It has me listed in a house, with kids, and enjoys politics. I'd love to know who told them all of that because all 3 are incorrect.

I also made a yahoo email and deleted myself from the list. I've went back a couple days later to make sure it was still gone.

they get all that info from on-line public records and they have no ability to delete or change the information that is being made available to the public.

True. There is just more attention on Spokeo, so I think there is more chance that someone will just casually look up someone they know/knew. Personally, I think it will repopulate in the future anyway. I don't think there is any chance that "deleting" yourself from Spokeo will help against the true criminals since it is public info.

Hence my last line in my previous post -- I'd rather those details be a little harder to search for.

My info is sketchy. DH's info is largely accurate, and MUCH more detailed. I have tried REPEATEDLY to get his info removed, using a "fluff" e-mail address that is valid but is NOT our "good" e-mail. Can't get him removed. Several people on FaceBook have said they were successful in removing their profiles, so I guess it does work sometimes.

Did you click on the confirmation email that is sent to you? Also, there is a limit to the number of accounts you can delete per email address, so you could be over the limit. I forget if that is only for a set period of time.

tell them that you actually have 10 kids....

and five houses around the u.s. and canada, each one is worth 10 to 15 million, and that you are looking to buy an island to dock your yacht at, in the off season of course.

They are pulling info from a variety of public records and online accounts. Removing it from just that one site is not going to make a difference. There are other sites just like them on the net. There are also a lot of pay sites to get information from. Not much different than companies that collection agents use. I have done a search on one of those and they even bring up names of my family members such as brothers and sisters and parents. As well as every address I have ever lived at or used. And that is what comes up for free. Imagine what they would give out if you paid. They would pull any judgements against you, creditcard info. etc.

Obviously you have to watch what information you yourself put out on the net. But this type of information can not be stopped altogether as it comes from many sources such as public records that you have no control over.

All you are doing by asking this site to delete you is giving them even more information so that they can contact you directly.

Besides getting email addresses I would not doubt if this is a way for them to try to get around the do not call list. They can now say they have business with you since you gave them your contact info.

Never heard of teh site. Mine is pretty accurate. My name, address, approx age, zodiac, kids, wife, and most hobbies are all accurate. The photos are quite interesting, though. One is som eother man I've never met, and the other is SANTA!!! Yeap, I guess I am Santa and never knew it. Oh, and they have me in a $1 million plus home, but list my neighborhood as below average. Wonder what I'd get if the neighborhood as at least average!!
