We're in the midst of planning a trip for April and, to our shame, have never actually gone into Paris on any of our previous trips. We're looking to stay a bit longer this time and fancy a day into Paris. Our eldest (11) is in a wheelchair so we're just trying to work out the best way to do it as we wouldn't even consider driving in.

How accessible is the train station at DLP and what about when we get into Paris? Our son is light enough that we can lift him on and off the train if need be, but not up flights of stairs in a station.

Also, when we get into Paris, what's the best way for getting around?

Any tips would be much appreciated.

We went into Paris today and took the train. It's an easy journey depending on where you are going in paris. If you can manage your son on an escalator it would be easy enough. I would guess you would just need to plan your journey exits only at accessible stations.

Aside line 14 which is an automatic line with lifts at every station the only other metro stations adapted for wheelchair users are Barbes - Rochechouart, Jaures, La Defense, St Denis

I remember Abbesses (36 m down from surface to platform) having one as well as Cité (20 m down from surface to platform) but they aren't on the lists :confused3 so I would avoid them just in case.

All the other stations have either just stairs or partial escalators and stairs. So you would have to be able to carry him or at least be prepared too as escalators are often not working or are not going up/down when you need them too.

RER stations have lifts so you could get on at Marne la Vallée and get off at any of the stops within Paris on the RER.

Here is the complete list published by the RATP

and the 2nd one which says which ones have lifts and enlarged ticket barriers so you can pass through in a wheelchair with or without needing to get an employée to help

hth and don't hesitate if you need any help with translations etc :goodvibes
