OT: take kids to see Jersey Boys?

I am really hoping that there is someone here who can help me to answer this! My parents have gotten tickets to see the show Jersy Boys when it comes down here in March (Kravis center in West Palm Bch, FL). They are going as part of a group and have invited us to come (my hubby and I). Problem is that my parents are usually the ones who watch my kids when we go out. Now, we could ask my inlaws to watch but that always ends up being a fiasco!
The tix are for a Sunday matinee. Has anyone seen Jersey Boys and brought kids? My boys are 7 and 4 and both love musicals. The only "live" shows that they have been to are the ones at Disney and Cirque du Soleil in Montreal. Is the show constant singing/dancing or are there slower parts? I would really love to take the kids to see a show (I started going really young) but I am not sure this is the right one to start with.

Thanks for any help!
Jill

I haven't seen it, but I remember reading that there is a lot of content not appropriate for kids. Here's some info I found.. there is a lot more.

Its a really good show, but the language is filthy. (And I'm a foul-mouthed ex-New Yorker married to a sailor, so I know what I'm talking about! ) I'd say its definitely not appropriate for those under 10 or so, and if I was going to take my 12-year-old niece, I'd definitely have "the discussion" with her beforehand. (You know, the one where you talk about how all the bad words are out there, and discuss the implications and appropriateness of using them, etc., etc.)

On second thought, I don't think I would take her, 'cause when I think of it, there's also a bunch of drinking, drugs, prison scenes, and some cheating stuff in the show, too. So I think I'd have to say no, don't take the kids. Take them to something else a bit more innocent. There'll be enough time for them to experience all that stuff later on....

It's a great show for adults, though. Especially if you're of that era. The music's wonderful, it's a lively show and it's a lot of fun.

We are a Broadway Show loving family and have seen Jersey Boys. I wouldn't take a child younger than 12 or 13 to it. I'm not super strict or prudish but I just think it is adult content and language. It's also a story and style of music that neither of my kids would have been interested in younger than teenage.

Lots of cursing... in some cities on the tour, there have actually been warnings released. Not a show I would take a young child to.

It is wonderful though and probably worth the hassle of arranging for a sitter for your kids.

That's where I heard it. They streamed warnings on the bottom of the TV commercials when it was here.

From what I've heard, it's not appropriate for children (but also heard it is awesome!). I also wouldn't want to drop that much $ on tickets only to be sitting next to fidgety children (and I'd expect them to fidget/talk during an adult show). Get a sitter!

Jersey Boys is in my top 3 Broadway shows. It is wonderful but no way would I take kids that young. Inappropriate and I think they would be bored. Get a sitter so you can really relax and enjoy the show. You'll love it!

Thanks for the info everyone! That is just what I was looking for.
I don't often miss living in NYC but I miss Broadway terribly! It was so wonderful to head to the half-price tix booth on days off from school and see a matinee! Hopefully there will be a more kid-friendly show down here soon!

I have not seen the show but a coupleof my friends have. They have all come back and mentioned the language. Maybe you coould take a couple of friends and take sons to something else.
