OT: Storyland, NH

You mean the one your subpose to milk??

:rotfl2:

Yep! I'm not a farm girl & there was only one way that I knew how to get milk.....

BTW- just for the record, I was only about 2.

Here are some pix from our day at Storyland in 2006. We went the weekend before my wedding because all my nephews and nieces were in NH for my wedding.

We took my 2 year old son last summer.

I had low expectations since we do Disney often and this is "just a little park in the woods of NH!"

I was SO IMPRESSED with it and we will be back this year. It is perfect for preschoolers. I was amazed at how clean everything was and how friendly the workers were.

My suggestion would be to skip the area to the right when you enter. It has some fun stuff (ball pits, misc things), but we spent a lot of time there and were then hurried through the rest of the day. I would save it for the end or when you need some downtime.

That Hampton Inn is great!

We go to Storyand every year and my kids love it. We actually camp at Moosehillock so we can go to Santa's Village and Storyland.

It's like a mini Disney vacation!!

We went last summer for the first time with my then 2-year old and she loved it! There is a campground right next door - you could walk from there if you wanted to but some of the walk would be on a main road. We stayed there, but drove to the park - took about a minute. We could hear the opening music from our campsite and could see the pumpkin coach from the campground entrance. This was a no-frills campground, but good and made for a cheap weekend away. We brought our lunch to the park and they have a very nice place near the entrance where you can store your cooler and then sit and eat. We will definately go back again this year.

Have fun! Here are a few more pics for you - from August 2007

We go to Story Land in NH twice a year and we have posted the "ideal itinerary" on my FamilyZip page hbragdon.familyzip.org - search for story land and you'll find it!

Have a blast!

I agree with so many you will have a blast. We went about 2 years ago and plan on going again this year. We will stay at that hotel with the big water park like pool.
Last time we drove the 4.5 hours and and then came home!

Storyland is an annual trip for our family...everyone always has a great time. Bring a bathing suit for the kids if they will want to play in the little sprinkler zone. Don't miss the big tent thing behind the sprinkler zone where they have the foam balls with the air guns...that is one of my children's favorite parts of the day!

When we go to Storyland, we usually go to Clarks either the day before or the day after. Normally we stay at the Quality Suites next to the Pirates Cove Mini Golf (http://www.epinions.com/content_168902233732?linkin_id=8003929).

I don't think they are open Memorial day weekend. Most employees are students and don't get out of school until June. Second the weather really isn't that great Memorial Day. It doesn't warm up until the end of June really. I remember skiing Mothers day weekend.
Santa's Village is also awesome. It is in Jefferson. less than an hour from Story land. Stay in North Conway, Bartlett, Jackson area for both parks. Jefferson doesn't have much. (I grew up there) The only motel is the Lantern Inn and Campground. But is usually booked out several months in advance. Both parks are easily done each in one day. Skip Six Gun City, not worth the money. Both parks will suprise you with the food prices. Cheap! I worked at SV and I know the owners take alot of pride in the park, It is well kept, updated, and clean. My nephew who is 7 likes Storyland better because of the bigger rides (nothing really big) I took my 2 year old to SV last summer and he could ride everything. Both parks are geared for preschoolers. And SV has real reindeer. FYI SV is now open from Thanksgiving to Christmas for weekends. We went this past chiristmas and it is pretty busy for a small park in the winter. My son loved seeing Santa and the reindeer just before christmas.

Storyland opens on Memorial Day. I have lots of friends who go up that weekend. Granted, the weather may be cool, but that's not a bad thing!!

WE'RE GEARING UP FOR OUR 55th SEASON, AND WILL RE-OPEN ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND IN 2008:
Story Land will be open for our 55th season in 2008, from Memorial Day Weekend through Columbus Day. We're generally open weekends only from Memorial Day to Father's Day; then daily from Father's Day through Labor Day; then weekends only again Labor Day through Columbus Day.

Storyland is fabulous and you'll love it there. Contact the North Conway Chamber of Commerce for places to stay. I believe there is a Storyland hotel on the corner just before you take the right to get to Storyland. You also may want to consider Santa's Village. That too is in NH though a couple hours north from Storyland.

Also in Lincoln (across the Kankamankas Highway) there is Clarks Wild Animal Farm. The specialty there is bears.

It was (many) years ago that we took our two boys and loved every minute of all of these attractions.

Have a wonderful time. But like anything else book into a hotel/motel early. That's the busy season.

:thumbsup2

We were just in North Conway last month over St. Patrick's Day weekend. We stayed at the Eastern Slope Inn, which is downtown. It's a nice hotel with a yummy Flatbread pizza restaurant downstairs. We want to go back! My DS7 keeps saying he wants to go back to NH next year. I told him that if he ever plans on a trip to Disney, we can't go away next year. LOL

Storyland is the best! I went as a little girl (many years ago!), and we've taken our kids a few times. Our last trip was two summers ago, when they were 11 and 7, and they both loved it. It is CLEAN and very friendly. It was family owned for many years, but from what I understand, they sold it to an amusement park company...the same that owns Kenneywood in PA, I believe. And I agree with one of the PP's that you can go with $20 in your pocket and get quite a bit of food/snacks for that money!

My dad's side of the family owns a summer cottage on Lake Ossipee so that is where we stay. Sorry I can't help with hotels. We do like to stop and eat at the 99 Restaurant on the way home. We don't have those in PA, and it's one of my kids' favorite chain restaurants when we're in NH visiting family. (they also like the McDonalds in North Conway because of the ski/gondola theme!) We tried a great little Indian restaurant in North Conway too...it was right off of the main street. Very good, and my kids loved it.

BTW, the last time we were in North Conway, we spotted a small water playground in the town park. I'm not sure if they still have it open, if it's free to all, or whatever, but it looked like fun for little ones.

Also, when I was little (back in the early 70's), North Conway always used to have a carnival in that town square some time in the summer. My grandfather used to take my cousins and I to go on the rides. I don't know if they still do it, but it is one of my greatest memories!

I love Story Land! I went every year as a kid, and still say I wish I could borrow a kid so I could still go. I also love Santa's Village and Clark's.

Does anyone remember Fantasy Farm? That used to be in Lincoln. I think it's a water park now.

We still go to North Conway to shop at the outlets. We're actually heading up there in a couple of weeks. We've stayed at the Red Jacket, the Fox Run Inn, the Holiday Inn and the Hampton Inn. They're all great. There's a fairly new Comfort Inn that looks nice too.

I enjoy storyland as well. One small complaint though, from when we went last summer. "Cinderella" was a brunette. Around that time, we had kicked around the possibility of a 2008 wdw visit (7 days away... woohoo!!!!!), and as soon as we left the castle, my DD (then 5), asked "So, when are we going to see the REAL Cinderella, with the yellow hair?"

Another lover of Storyland!!!

I grew up in NH so we went a few times as kids. Then we took our little ones there 2 summers ago and had a GREAT time!! Highly recommend it!

Maybe this summer we will go back and hit Santa's Village as well.

Lots of nature things to do up there as well - The Flume, the Basin etc. Our 4 year olds were able to walk the whole thing with very few whines.

WE went in 2004. It was Labor Day weekend. WE had a 2yrold (free), 4yr old and 6yr old. We did Storyland and Santa's Village. It was a package, stay at a hotel in Gorham, NH. WE had 2 nights stay, free Buffet breakfast (meaning eggs, french toast, coffee, juice, bacon, sausage and potatoes) for 2 mornings, Admission for 2 adults and 2 kids to both Santa's Village and Storyland, for about $280. It was worth it, and the kids really enjoyed it. We stopped at on of the walk through caves on the way up, not the Polar Caves, but another one, the name escapes me.

I recommend bring your own stroller, the rentals were not pretty last time we were there. The food inside the park was cheap too.
