Ot==snow day tomorrow!!!

Woo-hoo, Michigan schools are shutting down as we speak! We got the call at 5:45 AM already so it's going to be an easy going day for us--the alarm clocks have been shut off! :cool1:

No school for us in Western Mass either. Luckily today is my day off from work so I don't have to figure out what to do with the kids.

Yay! Snow day here too...the kids will be thrilled. Inside out PJs paid off for them, LOL! :rotfl:

So..."Let it Snow", for awhile...but then please, "Let it Stop" before next week because we are moving to a new city across the state and it would be really nice if we don't have to move in a blizzard!! :scared1:

My son attends college in Williamsport, PA and they won't be opening until 11am this morning due to the weather, which is too bad. He had a final scheduled for 8am this morning, which has now been re-scheduled for Saturday, so now he has to stay through Saturday, he was suppose to be finished on Friday for the winter break. So he was disappointed because of the weather.

Atleast the drive in this morning (West MI) wasnt bad. If it gets bad after lunch I will spring everyone out of here, there is nothing that cannot wait until tomorrow. Dd got her snow day wish but I was surprised, Holland pulled but down South the kids are in school. I figure tomorrow will be a snow day.

My kids in Farmington, Minnesota got school cancelled! :cool1: Lucky kids...I still had to make the 45 mile drive in to work...YUCK! But luckily it wasn't too bad, though the blowing snow made whiteout conditions at times.

We got a foot of snow here in Des Moines, and now it's starting to blow and drift. Snow day for the kids!

I don't think it's a very good sign when you start the snowblower and flames shoot out the exhaust.:scared1:

County road maintenance guy came through to plow the cul-de-sac and saw my hubby out snowblowing our driveway. Hopped out and said "DUDE...you are SOOOOOOO wasting your time, I can barely get through with this huge truck on these back roads...wait until the wind dies down!" :lmao:

We have 4-5 foot drifts in our back/side yard.

I think it's a guy thing where they have to somehow "defeat" the snow to keep it off the driveway! I say...let it sit for now...it'll be there later! :rotfl2:

78 schools in a 5 city radius here in Northern Wisconsin closed today. I didnt have to work even though the daycare I work at is open. I wacthed a van get stuck in the street wehre I live.

:rotfl2: Definitely a guy thing! The neighbors are all out w/their snowblowers & DH went out 3 times yesterday to shovel while it was still falling. I guess it's good so it won't be so heavy today. He's home from work & getting ready to go out again.

Who says kids are the only ones that want to go out & play in the snow!

The drifts are crazy--I cannot imagine what it is like in the open areas.
They aren't sure if they will even get side streets done until tomorrow...gonna be tough to not call off tomorrow if that is the case.
Below zero temps tonight...don't know about the wind later.
I wouldn't complain about another snow day....:thumbsup2
Unfortunately our music program is tomorrow--that would be a mess to reschedule...I'm sure our music teacher is a mess right now! (tho she has done this for years...)
Hmmm...finish decorating or bake?? Decisions, decisions...:surfweb:

Four teachers (out of 13) made it in today! 6 kids came as of 8:30!!! I work tommrow ICK (thats gonna be a long walk)

At 5PM the news said roads would be cleared by midnight. Scraper came thru and did about half the road:confused3
Then at 6PM they said they would not get all the roads cleared until Saturday!!!
And they mentioned the problems are people are getting stuck in residential areas...
No school closing for us yet...Luckily I don't officially have students until 12:50 (media specialist...most my groups can just be canceled). But seriously, like subs are going to have any easier time getting in??!!
On a good note, one building (I am in 2) they postponed our Thurs program to Mon.
DH just came in from scooping...said I will have to pull into 2 other driveways to get a straight shot out onto the narrowly cleared roads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We shall see....

They just called off school for tomorrow. Third day in a row! Wind chills are supposed to be -20 in the morning and the side streets haven't been cleared yet do the blowing. That almost never happens. It is too early in the winter to have burned 3 snow days. I think we are only allowed 3 or 4 before we have to make up the time. I am getting a lot done. DNiece attends pre-kdg at the school I teach at and lives just down the street from me so I am watching her every day. She loves to help bake so I am getting my Christmas baking done with her help. I haven't even been outside since Monday! I'm lucky, my DB takes care of the snow in the driveway when he comes to get DNiece. Also got the kitchen cleaned and the frige cleaned and scrubbed today.

I was just commmenting I can't get the house tidied well w/ all of us here all day!
Finished Xmas decor (helped no ornaments this year w/ new kitten..! just candy canes/lights)
Had family game afternoon, that was fun.
Noticed you guys have tomorrow off...your hills are treacherous w/ a normal storm. Wouldn't be surprised if you have Friday off, also!
We have 5 days a year w/o makeups (we added 8 min/day 10 years ago when school was called off for a week...they decided it was easier to leave it & then we are pretty much covered). I don't think we have EVER had more than 3 in a year except that one year...so we could afford another!!:wizard:

In Omaha too (Kids go to Gretna Schools). I was surprised to get the call about being canceled tomorrow. I haven't been out since Monday night so I don't know how bad the roads are but I do know it's cold! I don't mind another snow day except my DS's Dr well check is tomorrow so now I'll have to bring all 3 kids along. Fun! I really need to get to a grocery store too and that's always better to do while kids are in school! Got creative with dinner tonight with what I had on hand! LOL!

Tomorrow's our 3rd day out and it's a good thing- I'm not even sure this road will get cleared out tomorrow even. Would be nice to be able to get to work I guess...These shots are from the road with our driveway by the trees on the left. Some places are 6 feet deep.

Third day! DH was pretty sure they would call it, I figured no. About 9:15, got the call!
Yesterday I wasn't as productive...gonna try to ramp it up today!
As a kid, we practically NEVER had snow days...but we never had this much snow. We have had more snow days in the last 10 years than in my 18 years of public school/college!
Enjoy!

Wow, in MI I wouldnt call this a blizzard. 2nd day of no school but NOT a blizzard here. Its not nice but more of a winter storm....
