OT: Proud Mama Moment

Hi all,

Just thought I'd share the good news. DD 20 (21 in Sept) and her DB24 whom she has been with since the beginning of High School are engaged. He proposed on 6-13-07 their 6th anniversary. He took her to an Orioles game at Camden Yards and after the game her cousin arranged for a a "tour" of the stadium. He took them onto the field behind home plate, gave the signal for someone in the control booth to light up the score board (by rubbing his forehead ) my DD caught her name up on the scoreboard out of the corner of her eye and turned around and saw the message and DB down on one knee with the ring in his hand. Here is the result :

Thank you all so much for your good wishes and for allowing me to share this special moment with you. She'd hate to hear me say it but she's still my baby girl and it's hard to believe that time goes so fast, and that next October she'll be a married woman.

Congratulations!!! They look sooo sweet! And can I just say, Thank God, finally a parent that let her child date in high school. And he was even 3-4 years older. My parents started dating when my mom was going into 8th grade, and my dad is 2 years older, and they have been married since age 17 and 19 and together every since!! It amazes me how many parents don't believe in high school dating. Real romance is still alive!! Makes me hopeful for DD in the future.

I started dating DH when I was 19. We got married when I turned 20 and we will celebrate our silver anniversary (25 years) this March 2008. DH & I had reservations about DD dating someone 4 years older than her back in high school, she was not a happy camper when DH and I insisted that we meet the young man (now DF) but we wanted to get to know him before we trusted our daughter with him and we had strict rules about where they could go and what time she had to be home. After we got to know him ( I guess a year or so passed) we relaxed our rules a bit ,and as time went on and we got to know him and his family and the type of person he was, he became more or less part of our family. I now trust him to take her anywhere.

He is such a good man, and I am so glad her best friend introduced her to him. He has his Bachelor's Degree and is working to become a teacher and my daughter is working on getting her degree in pyschology in hopes of working with children someday.I am so proud of them both and I know they will be very happy together.They are planning an October wedding. I have 2 more DD ages 7 and 4 and I really,really, feel sorry for the boys who come to my house 10-15 years down the road to date them. Between my DH, DS23, and DSIL they are not going to stand a chance.
