Ok, this is a would you do it thread??:confused3

My DD will be 16 next year. I told her we will take a mother/daughter trip anywhere she wants to go. (DS is going out West with DH). Gulp, Paris came up in the conversation. Years ago, I went to Paris and loved it! She is in her 4th year of French and really loves the subject.

I am just so afraid of travelling that far with just DD. We usually travel as a family, so this is a big stretch for both of us. I am a little concerned from a safety standpoint - two females with limited knowledge of a very large city!

So, would you take your DD to Paris?

So, would you take your DD to Paris?

Yes ::yes:: as with all cities stick to the main tourist areas and you will be fine.

We've only been to Paris as day visitors before but next summer we're spending 3 nights there and I'm really looking forward to it, especially seeing the Eiffel Tower lit up at night.

I would! :) I have been to Paris 2 times this year. Once with my sister and BIL and once with my husband, and daughters (1 year, 4 years). There were only 2 times that I felt uncomfortable. The main strip felt very safe to me and the art museums were all amazing! :)

A piece of advice, if you want to visit Montmartre; take metro line 12 to the Pigalle station. Do not take Line 4 to Barbes Rochechouart- the area was very crowded and lots of men staring at us, people trying to shove things in our hands. Definitely a place to stay away from. I did not feel threatened at all when getting off at Pigalle and wandering around. If you don't want your daughter to see the sex shops, stay away from the Moulin Rouge, they are all down that street.

The only other time we felt uncomfortable was when we went to Trocadero to get a view of the Eiffel tower. There was some kind of rally going on, I just prefer to stay away from demonstrations because you never know.
