I thought you were infectious for up to a week before the spots came out as well, and until they scab over. Don't worry, it's unlikely she'll get it at that exact time.

I like your positive thinking Cathy :lmao:

I don't get why she hasnt caught it at pre-school yet when her friends have gone down with it.

i think the girl ment (i think) is if she still has spots it doesnt mean she is still contagious, so would get a letter from ur doctor to say she is past the contagious stage. As mentioned usually 5/6 days after spots appear.my dd got the poxs 3wks b4 our last trip doe i knew she would be fine i was worried sick her sis would catch them lucky she didnt. now im worried she will get them b4 we go to spain in august or worse b4 our mth long trip to oz in october:scared1: But im sure she will be fine .

Hasn't she been vaccinated against Chicken Pox yet or don't they do that routine in the UK? In the states they vaccinate everyone now early and if you are older you have to get 2 shots. MY DH and DS 16 had to have 2 shos as they were older and have never had Chicken Pox. I had a very mild case when I was young so am immune. I honestly never worry about any of the family getting it now. The worst problem would be poor Kyra if she gets a bad case would probabaly be itchy and miserable. I wouldn't worry so much- I don't think most nightmares come true. Good luck!

DS was in contact with it at nursery 3 times, and only got it when DD got it at nursery. He was in reception then, and gave it to a good proportion of his classmates.........
Has Kyra had her settling-in day at school? I can't believe Freya is going to school in September but she can't wait!

Kyra doesnt start reception till next Septemer.....so another year in class below for her. But she is eager to move up to the next class, i think its because all her friends she has made are the ones that are due to move up to reception class in September.

Here is hoping she gets it before our trip or after September and not before our November trip.

No they don't offer vacinations for Chicken Pox over here, i guess you could them if you went private though.

Of course, don't know why I thought it was this year. I bet she'll get lots of new friends when some newbies start.

those baskets are fab im sooo getting them for my girls if we make it there next year:goodvibes.

The tennis was great lastnite alright and im not a murry fan.

Varicella isn't a routine vaccination in the UK, it's thought that by vaccinating children against it, there is the potential for a massive rise of cases of shingles in adults.

There are a few exceptional circumstances where children are vaccinated (siblings of immuno-compromised children) and Health Care workers who don't have immunity!

I wouldnt get the vaccine anyway, not so i could just go on holiday anyway.

My DD1 only got it this year at almost 4 (2 months off). She had been in a class at nursery (of 12 kids) and all bar her had CP at one point! Was beginning to think she was immune! Apparently some children do have a natural immunity which can wane once they get past toddlerhood. And it often takes a good few 'meetings' with the CP before they actually get it.

I know what you mean about the worry Emma - I used to do that too but thankfully both DDs have now had it - just hope the baby doesn't get it again as she was under 1 yr and a few people have said their immune system doesn't build up a strong enough immunity to it to stop them getting it again :confused3 She did have it fairly badly so I'm hoping she'll be OK :thumbsup2

My DD1 starts reception this year - I can't believe it really. Bit concerned as in a class of 30, there are only 8 girls!!! Just hoping they all get on really well as there isn't going to be room for 'clashing personalities' with those type of numbers - mind you, you know kids, quarreling one moment, best friends the next :lmao:

Wow only 8 girls out of a class of 30  I know at Kyra's school they have 2 reception classes. Not sure if thats common practice or not.

I think im just a natural worrier, here is hoping Kyra is immune from it :lmao:

Right hope everyone has a lovely day.

I'm off to pick up Kyra from pre-school the we are goin to my mums where im planning on soaking myself with the hose pipe.

Wow brigette they are amazing!!!

I might do something like that for jack - do they get delivered to your resort for you?

Yes they do, she delivers them on the morning of your check in date and they will be delivered to your room when it becomes available.

I had this very problem in May Emma.

Basically Eurostar and Eurotunnel's policy is that as long as they aren't 'contagious' then they are free to travel like anyone else...now what they deam to be contagious vary's from person to person that you speak with at Eurostar/tunnel.

The general consensous is that once the spots have appeared and crusted over then they are no longer contagious...however this is a subject of debate.

They told me that the safest option was to obtain a doctors note confirming that the child no longer is contagious and then they will accept that and allow you to travel.

Fingers crossed that it doesn't happen...but don't worry if it does, as long as you cen prove that the child is not contagious they will allow you to travel

My daughter has been through three bad rounds of chickenpox - twice at nursery and once in reception - and has still not had it herself. :confused3 I worry every time we are about to go away that she will get it, now I have stopped worrying as I don't think she will ever have them.

My son only had to look at someone with a spot when he was 4 and came down with a really bad dose.

My daughter came down with it when we were on holiday in Florida!

Came out with spots exactly 14 days after she had been infected at preschool (I only booked her in that extra morning so I could pack!)

Airline advice was no flying for 7 days after spots appeared and then only fly when spots scabbed and had dr's clearance letter. We flew home exacltly 7 days late.

Chance of it happening are slim... although it also happened to MIL/FIL a few years before on hols with our twin nieces. One twin got it,delayed waiting ok to fly...then second twin got it,delayed..then FIL got shingles! 1 week hol in Gran Canaria turned into 5.

Someone once told me chickenpox was usually 2 big outbreaks a year - nov/dec and may ish...don't know if it is true.

My son has the opposite - there are only 11 boys in his class of 30. But actually it's the girls who have been the trouble. Even at this age there has been a lot of problems with *****iness and spitefulness and general girl-together-ness!
