I'm at a loss for what I should do. I'm hoping you ladies could help me out. I've been on the pill for about 4 years. Since starting the pill my cycles have been like clock work, never more than a day late. I take the pill at the same time every day. As of today I am 6 days late. I took a hpt and it was neg. but still no period. Well, I'm supposed to start my new pack of pills this Sunday and I'm not sure what to do. Do I start the new pack or do I wait and see if I get my period first? The doc office has been closed all weekend and won't reopen until Mon. Any thoughts?

I personally would take another test on Monday. If it is neg then I would continue your pills. What type of pill are you on? When I used to be on the pill too much stress (like worrying about being preggers) would cause me to be late. Lot of fun! But after I took a couple of pregnancy tests and got a neg then I would usually get my "happy" time.

Hope this helps!

Start the new pack, but take another test and contact your doctor's office to see if they want you to come in.

What pill are you on? And have you recently switched to a new brand?

I am on Yaz and very often don't have a period. When I first started on it, I had a period every month during the placebo week. Slowly the periods got lighter and lighter to where they were just one day long. :cool1: Then one month I didn't have one at all. I'd been on the pill about a year and a half. Freaked me out. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. I waited until my annual exam and asked my ob/gyn about it. He said it's very common with many of the new pills on the market to completely skip periods. He laughed and said most women like that but if it was a problem for me, he could switch me to another brand where I would have a period every month. I told him it was no problem but I would have liked a heads up so I wouldn't be :scared1: .

I'm on Necon and have been for a little over a year. I haven't had any problems at all until this month. I guess I should also mention that I'm working towards becoming a fitness competitor. I was on a cutting phase (leaning out) and taking "Animal Cuts" as a supplement for 3 weeks. One of the ingredients is St. John's Wort, which according to some reading I did today, can have an adverse effect on bc pills. Now I'm a bit worried.

If you are dieting or working out hard that does cause stress on our body, and it can knock out your period.

I ALWAYS train hard. I have for about 2 years and its never effected my cycles.

I've been on the pill for over 20 years, taking breaks only to have my two boys. My doctor said it's very common to miss periods when you're on the pill. If you have a very light one or none at all for a month, you'll make up for it by having a heavier one next month. I would still take another test to make sure it's still showing negative. If it is, definitely start your next pack on schedule. If it's still bothering you, give a quick call to your doctor to ease your mind.

Okay, I don't want to freak you out, but,

My girlfriend that I taught with was getting married and was taking St. John's Wort to calm her nerves the couple of weeks before her wedding. Obviously they:banana: on their wedding night and she did not start her period when she was supposed to, she assumed it was becasue of all the stress of the wedding. Well she went to the OBGYN and they told her she was pregnant, she was so surprised and the DR. told her it was b/c of the St. John's Wort. It negates the effectiveness of the BC pill. She didn't know and tada, 9 months later baby girl.

Keep us updated!!

I will keep you all updated, I know that if it turns out that I am I'm gonna need advise from those moms with big families. I've decided to hold off on starting the new pack of pills until I can get in to see my doctor. we'll use a backup method in the mean time. I know children are blessings, this would be the only baby that my husband and I had together. When we got married he had two girls ( the oldest and youngest) and I had a daughter (the middle one). So while haveing a baby would be exciting, all I can think is "OMG 4 kids:scared1:

I know this doesn't help you at all now, but just for the benefit of anyone else who reads this... Don't take St. John's Wort while on the Pill!!! It can reduce the Pill's effectiveness by up to 50%. You should be cautious taking any supplement while on any prescribed medication.

Good luck!! I hope you get the results you want soon! I've also heard that about St John's Wart and antibiotics and a slew of other herbs!!

Being a woman is scary sometimes :lmao:
You hate having a period, but get all worked up when it doesnt come when its supposed to. :rotfl2:

men have it so easy:rotfl:

Well, at least the other three are old enough to help change diapers!!!:lmao:

Good luck! I hope you get the result you really want!!!

I have been on the pill for 17 years and that happens to me all the time. THe first few times I freaked out and would run and get a preg test and they were always negative.

My doctor said that I have been on the pill for so many years that my body will skip a period. I get all the symptoms of a period but no period.

In October of 1996 I took 3 pregnancy tests-all 3 came back negative.

9 months later my son was born. He'll be 11 next Sunday.

I was told false negatives are common. False positives are rare. I ended up very sick and in the hospital (not pregnancy related), and asked for a pregnancy test just in case before I would let them give me pain meds. The blood test was positive, and I never did get my meds!

Thats what I'm worried about. I'm going to call the doctor today and see if they can get me in for a blood test. I'll keep you all posted.

amen!!!!Don't take St Johns Wort if you are on any prescription meds without checking with your DR.I have seen many patients with really bad drug interaction side effects and toxicities from this stuff. It interacts with absolutely everything.

Thanks again for all the support. I got the call from the doctor this morning and the blood test was negative. Ya know I was thinking that I didn't want a 4th child. But when the doctor told me "Negative" I burst into tears and my heart feels broken. I guess in my heart of hearts I really do want a baby. All I have to do now is figure out why I missed my period this month.:confused3
