OT: LOST fans?

I didn't like it either. I can't put my finger on it. Perhaps it was the constant elusive references to MiB as brother, son, etc. It semed so obvious they were trying to avoid naming him. I think it's all going to tie together, just not looking lik the "profound" meaning we thought. I have a question: If MiB came out of cave as smokie and then "died" and Jacob placd them together and were later found as Adam & Eve, has MiB been out of his original body since then? That's not possible because we've seen him talking to Jacob since MiB had his powers and he was in his body. So how were his bones found by Jack & Kate? :confused3

I think we're going to find that a lot of "people" we thought were real, are really dead. That is the only way to explain the inconsistencies.

That's the same thing I was questioning - we've seen man in black, in his original form recently, so how could he be dead, but alive?

yep, same question here.......i get that his physical body maybe we gone and he is the black smoke and trapped now..........but you are right, they showed him and Jacob in later years on the island, after they had obviously been there a long time- when Richard arrives etc. and it showed MIB in 'his body' again? yep, i am lost.

i did like the episode though and definitely it leaves more of a grey area and made you sort of feel sorry for MIB where before I didn't have much compassion for him. it definitely makes you think it isn't all 'black and white'..........there's a lot of grey area on who is good/evil etc. Just like the 'mother' killing the preggo lady- how good can that be? Is it considered 'okay' because she is protecting the light? at what point do those sacrifices become 'acceptable' in terms of good? :confused3:rotfl:

just looking forward to the end. My DH is too- he can't wait for it all to be over so he doesn't have to watch pieces of it here and there (he isn't a fan). :rotfl:

What if Jacob is crazy and only imagined talking to MiB? We can imagine how crazy he must be with the crazy mom who killed everyone, then he kills his brother, he doesn't know who his mom is, and now he's alone on the island. So I guess he has to figure out his "powers" and send people to the island to take his place and rid him of the burden of protecting the island. But it's still somewhat leaning towards a Hell down that hole (except for the white light). Anyway, maybe Jacob has been nuts all along?

The show did make MIB more understandable. But how does he get his body back?? Who did he see when he saw his dead mother?
At this point, there is no way they can explain all the questions that have been brought up during the seasons. I have a feeling all the characters are Hurley's friends in the mental hospital writing a play to pass the time.

I also thought that MIB's name would be Esau since his brother was Jacob but the story does not fit at all. I guess the show is called "Lost" for more than one reason.:)

i thought that as well..........maybe we were shown the MIB's body and were only shown that for our benefit, when it could have been Jacob imagining/pretending or heck, could have been MIB in another body before we understood he could take the form of another body. who knows.

What I don't understand is if the man in black and the mother were the "adam and eve" skeletons in the cave, how is the man in black still alive?

Well Smokey took Locke's body/image, yet the real Locke was still in the coffin and was buried.

But I guess it is not the same since the real Locke is really dead. And it seems like smokey is the brother, or maybe the brother really is dead, and smokey was able to build a relationship with Jacob because he took his brother's form when speaking to him. Maybe smokey is slick and tries to use the forms he takes on to his advantage when dealing with people.

And yes, I was disappointed with last night. What a let down.

This is a really good point! I wondered how there could be 2 Locke bodies. This explains it...or does it? How can that even be? He must be an illusion or a ghost!

just watched the episode.....glad to see everyone else is as confused as we are.....

another question - how was the mother able to kill everyone in the camp?
that's a lot of people to kill all at once....even in a sneak attack...

as for how we liked it or not:
DD and i liked the episode....DS was very disappointed....and DH didn't say one way or the other..

One thing is for certain: the Mom was evil! Or crazy. Which leads us to the next thought...now Jacob is trying to protect what his evil/crazy mother was once protecting. Now I wouldn't be surprised if it IS Hell.

Another question: let's say MiB's powers were given upon entering the light cave. So how did he see the ghost of his real mom and Jacob couldn't see her?

So confused!

er..

Me thinks that mom could turn into a Smokey Mom at will much like the MIB.

interesting that the mom thanked MIB for killing her...
sounds like something akin to - the only way out is to be killed by a candidate...jacob and MIB were candidates....
one of them could kill mom...

And did you notice the dagger he killed Mom with was the same one he's been trying to get everyone to kill Jacob with?

So did he kill her before she spoke? So any candidate can kill the protector or a smokie with the dagger....

But the protector can't kill the smokie and vice versa or is it just Jacob & Mib can't kill each other. Because of the rules that supposedly the Mom made up?

Our discussion group at work wonder if the rules about MIB and Jacob not being able to kill each other were just somthing mom told them. It looked like when Jacob pushed brother in the water he slammed his head and was either dead or well on his way to dead before he ever went down the river into the cave of light.

The MIB turned into the Black Smoke Monster when he went into the cave of light (the mother warned Jacob that going in there was worse than death). He can take on another body, though, as he did with Jack's dad, and most recently, Locke. At least this is how I'm underrstanding it all.
''

I'm thinking that The MIB is only the body of the boy that died, Jacobs brother. That the Smoke Monster took his form when he died just as he now has taken Locke's form.

I think too that the Mom was not crazy but rather that there have been Jacob characters since long long ago and that she had Jacobs role before he did..maybe that made her a bit crazy. She however needed candidates and took the boys from their mother.

I thought at first that she was already the Smoke Monster when she killed the Mom because of the power she had when she destroyed the camp of those early Others. Except...she said sorry before she hit the Mom. So...I dunno! LOL.

Also...presuming it was she who destroyed the camp. It couldn't have been MIB because he killed her because of it...
