Where did you stay in Vegas?

We took the opportunity of the lower hotel prices in December and stayed in the Bellagio. Very nice hotel and paying the slight premium for a strip / fountains view was well worth it :thumbsup2

I'm very jealous, my aunt & uncle stayed their in June. When I go next I would like to stay in either the Wynn or Bellagio:goodvibes

Hi all

Have put a separate post on here but it's been soooo long since I've been on here it's all a bit foreign! We haven't been to DLRP since Aug/sept 2009 as we bought a house in June 2010 and have had to spend a lot doing work to it.

There are a lot of names I recognise on here :yay: from 'oldies' posting. I stopped coming on here as it was depressing me not having a trip planned and knowing we wouldn't have one but...

My inlaws (totally NOT disney!) shocked me on Xmas day and announced they'd like to treat us to a family holiday in 2013 to Florida - a long way off! My MIL will be 70 and my DH 40 so I think they are thinking do it while they can.

I do have reservations about it and haven't said 'yes' yet - a) they are not disney people and really don't like anything like that (not even package hols/eating out etc) b) they've said they will pay for flights/accom (would be a villa as they wouldn't want to stay at Disney) but I've looked and the park tickets alone would be more than we can probably afford then there is spending money etc! c) I'm worried about my youngest, she will be 5 but is the worst traveller - hates aeroplanes etc - everyone keeps telling me she will be OK by then!!?

So, it's not all plain sailing. I think inlaws would prob only do a few days at Disney - they are more Epcot/Kennedy Space Center (I know former is Disney but not MK type of stuff) and wouldn't 'get' it really which worries me as it can be infectious if you know what I mean.

I know a few of you have been to WDW on here - anyone recommend any good guide books - the DRLP one by Simon was invaluable - anything similar?

My heart is saying say 'yes' and my head is saying it might not be all it's cracked up to be holiday wise!!!

Any help would be appreciated as although it will be a while before booking, I think they'll want a definite answer soon...

Oh, and I think all this Disney talk has made me yearn even more so I'm going to try and talk DH into a DLRP trip this summer hols! ;)

I was going to reply to you but Rob beat me to it.
Yes the Bellagio was lovely. I loved being able to sit in the room watching the fountains out of the window. It was also in a really good position- very central on the strip for most other things. We had a great time there and did loads.

Sounds idyllic :goodvibes I think Danauk has a tag about doing that.

Hi :wave2: one of the 'oldies' here! :rotfl2: What a lovely surprise from your in-laws. :goodvibes

I'd definitely recommend the Brit's Guide as a first WDW book (it was from buying that book that I found out about the DISboards) and read/ask questions as much as you like on the UK board. And any help you want from us DLP lot who've been to WDW as well, you can always ask for on this Chat thread.

Hi Elaine :goodvibes - thanks for the offer. Actually, the more I look into it, the more I think we can't afford to go :sad2: Inlaws will pay for villa/flights - we'd have to think about tickets for all attractions (which are much more expensive than I thought) plus spending money - not sure we can stretch to that at the mo as our house still needs a fair bit of work I am going to have a good talk to my DH and see what he thinks. Plus the niggles of them not being into Disney (or theme parks/eating out/package type hols) at all worries me. In addition, it's a long flight for my younger DD who just doesn't travel well and isn't great when tired etc etc. I know it's a while away but for that kind of money, I'd rather wait another year or two and see how things lie then. It is very kind of the inlaws as clearly the villa/flights are a huge cost but I'm very unsure.

I've been having a sneaky look at DLRP for this summer (end of) and oh my goodness it's a huge increase on our 2009 trip for DLH :scared1: If I remember correctly for basically the same time/no of nights it's about £1200 more (exc travel) :scared1: I just don't think we can justify it which makes me :sad2:. I will of course look into staying offsite but in my mind to make that worthwhile we'd have to get APs which bumps the cost up again. How can they justify those price increases in 2 years - and that is meant to be with 30% off! I think my poor kids might be stuck to watching our old trip DVDs to relive the memories! Or....

Slightly OT but I've just splashed out on a late 'family' xmas pressie of an xbox 360 with kinect - reason..... so that we can all play Disneyland Adventures game ;) My DH is away at the moment with work but when he returns it will be a late Xmas present for him and the girls. Can't wait to play the game - a few friends have said it is great if you have been to DLRP.

Anyone here played it?

I am not a fan of the Brits guide but for the definitive WDW guide The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World has been our bible for trip planning to Florida.

For great detail another favourite is The Complete Guide to Walt Disney World :thumbsup2

Lol good glad not the only one I'm actually counting down the days till we are due to pay a bit anxious though as I have read Disney are a bit slow and it doesn't go straight away :/

tinks - it is normal (at least on here :lmao:). I was worse for our second trip actually as I knew what was coming and so couldn't concentrate for about 2 weeks before our trip :rotfl2:.

Cyrano - thanks for the books - still deliberating about the whole thing but I'll check them out :thumbsup2

Glad we are all the same! Just got to start saving or all our character meals now! The shareholder card will get a good work out on this holiday again :)

::yes:: It's good to be with like-minded people!

I totted up the other day what we've spent on Disney holidays since our supposed 'once-in-a-lifetime' trip to WDW 8 years ago and it was :scared1: Just think, I could have spent the money moving to a larger house or even paid the mortgage off but do I care? No, we'd only end up rattling round the large house once the girls have all left home and who wants to clean countless bathrooms!! Not me!! :lmao: :lmao: Give me the holiday memories every time. :cloud9:

Ha I love this so funny I dread to think how much our family has spent on Disney! Elsie has most of the contents of the disneystore in her bedroom lol x

It really does look lovely Nikki, :thumbsup2:

Thanks everyone, I have settled in now it was strange at first though. Just got issues with my gas meter which are never ending (doubt I will stay with British Gas) after they change it over.

The house is coming together, got to sort the driveway out next, which my uncle will do for me.

I'm looking forward to the spring & summer where I start my veggie patch & have lazy bbq's with my friends:thumbsup2
