6 months ago, I had a pap done....it came back with abnormal results, an abnormal growth of squamous cells on the cervical area. My doctor said this is completely normal and that for the time being, we would be doing another pap in 6 months, instead of the usual 12 months, to see if we get the same result. Well, I just had it done last week and got the results today...The cells have not mutated, but they are still present. He said that from here on, they will have to refer me to the cancer clinic, and I will have to get a coploscopy. He said that this is normal, and I shouldn't be freightened. It's just a precautionary measure they take to ensure that the cells don't multiply and to take care of them before it could potentially become something problamatic. Needless to say, I am terrified...I am turning 29 in a couple of days, and this just scares me to death. So many things are going through my head, I don't know where to begin.
I am curious though....how many people do get this done? What is it like? Has anybody else ever experienced this?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated?
