Oh, Denise, the tears are streaming down my cheeks.

My Mom was not in good health, but she died quite unexpectedly almost a year ago. Miss her still and am so glad that I drove or flew the five hunderd miles to visit her more often.

I pray that your mother has an easy passage out of this life and to whatever is next. I wish peace for her and for the rest of your family. I hope you find memories to cherish and the strength to manage as your family dynamics change.

Denise,
You and your family are all in my prayers.

Thank you everyone for all your kind words. It has really helped me so much.
My daughter (20) and I drove to see her yesterday. It took almost 4 hours because of road construction. The drive was so stressful. It is normally a 2 1/2 hour one way drive.
We spent several hours with her and she was so glad to see us. We helped her eat her meals and even went and got her an ice cream sandwich to eat! She loved that...
She had many visitors which was nice. We got home about 10pm last night. What a hard day. It was so hard for my daughter to see her. She was crying a lot.

Today mom was taken back to the hospital from the nursing home and is being admitted. She needs blood again and her lungs are filling with fluids. Her kidneys are failing now as well as her heart. I am waiting for a call from my sister who lives in the same town to let me know what is going on. The hospital is just too busy for everyone to be calling at once.
I have spent just too much time in hospitals lately. Between my late father in law, my daughter and my mom. I just want everyone alive and healthy.

It is so nice to be involved with the Dis community..
..thank you....:grouphug:...more than you will know.....

:hug::hug:

Praying for your entire family, it sounds like it has been a rough year! Take advantage of any time that you get to spend with her. Hugs from a fellow dis family member.

Denise, I'm glad you and your daughter had a chance to be there for your mom. She's lucky to have such a caring community around her!

I wish you well and peace/comfort during this. Your mention of how your mother is taking this brought back a difficult but happy moment when my grandfather passed away when I was about 19 years old. He was struggling to breath (I think it was congestive heart failure), laying slightly elevated in his nursing home bed when I visited. I tried to be strong, but watching the labored breathing was difficult. He knew it was not easy to see, so he took a moment to pause, gave me a quick smile and a wink and I know he was still strong where it counted.

Thank you for sharing your mother's story, it brought back good memories in a way as I learned how to deal with these difficult times.

We spent the whole day with Mom today. Everyone was there. She told us and her minister she was ready to be with God and my dad. We prayed together. We all talked to Mom and she told us about all the people she was seeing. She saw my dad and her dancing shoes. She was going dancing. I gave her a list of relatives to find and for her to send me their family tree info. She said she will send me a sign.
At 830 pm we were all leaving for the night. We all kissed her, one by one, turned to leave and the nurse came in and said she was gone. It was so peaceful . We all had told her how much we loved her and she kept telling us too. It was a beautiful day spent all together.
The next few days will be hard. Plus we leave the 26 th for the Baltic.
Again thank you, I appreciate all of you and your kind words...

For such a sad time, this is a beautiful post. It's so wonderful that you got to have this time with your mom when so many don't. Still keeping you all in my thoughts, and hoping you find peace soon.
