My DGD had reflux. She was crying all of the time, could not eat and was very underweight. My DD insisted that tests be run, listened to all of the pediatricians advice and yet the baby was miserable. At 7 months old the baby was still not able to really eat and my DR made an appointment with a pediatric endocrinologist which her pediatrician canceled. She then called another pediatrician who started Kady on baby zantac that day. Our little one was in a danger zone for her weight, her esophagus was terribly swollen and she was in pain. She has been seeing a pediatric gastroenterologist since, has stabilized her weight and is healthy. I wish I could tell you that she has outgrown the reflux, but at six she is taking the highest does of previcid a little one can take. She is living with some food allergies that made the reflux worse.
I would suggest taking your baby for another opinion. It cannot hurt, mu DD is sorry that she trusted the first Dr, who kept saying tha tthe baby should be that weight. Once she was under the care of another Dr, and seeing the specialists at the children's Hospital she found that my beautiful liitle Kady was diagnosed with failure to thrive and was very lucky that my DD and DSIL continued to try tio get her medical care.
