I've heard in passing that you can see when a sent email is read, but can't find out how or where to do it. :confused3

Both times I've heard this, I've been in a gathering of people and not near my computer (and on cell would be more difficult) and they're not close friends to ask again.

Anyone know how to do it with yahoo or gmail? Or even hotmail?

I would think everyone would like this option and since y'all know everything, hopefully someone can share!

TIA

I can answer from a Lotus Notes perspective. I haven't done this in Yahoo or Hotmail, but it's possible they have the same feature.

In Lotus Notes, there is a Delivery Options button and you can choose to have a Return Receipt sent once a person opens the email. I haven't used Outlook in a while but I'm pretty sure it would have this function as well.

It's possible that the people you are hearing from have their Yahoo account linked to Outlook and that's how they are able to do it.

You can request a "read receipt", but generally the recipient is given the choice of whether to send one or not. How you request one depends on the mail client you are using.

You'll need to google this question regarding your specific email provider, as it's different for each one. For instance, if you send an email from one aol user to another, it's easy, but it will be different for every provider. There's not one generic answer.
