I know this is completely OT but I love this board and knew I could post this here! My DB is in Iraq, he was supposed to come home tommorow. We are in NJ and my entire family and his GF were going to drive down to Baltimore to pick him up from the airport. Well as of last night he hadn't even left Iraq yet! We are having a party for him on Saturday, not to mention that our Disney trip is in a little over 2 1/2 weeks if for some reason they hold him that long!:scared1: So can all of you great people on this board send us some pixie dust and maybe a few prayers please for a quick and safe trip home? Thanks so much!!!:flower3:

:tinker: for a safe trip home and a thank you from my family to your brother for all of his sacrifices.

For a quick and safe return. He'll make it soon I just know it. Thank you to him for all he has done for us!

My husband served in Afghanistan, and the key to long-term military spouse/family survival is flexibility, and never to count on in-country return until he's actually coming across the threshhold.

DH flew directly to KS (we're in IL) and he actually asked us not to go bag and baggage there -- there was a lot of outprocessing, etc. We let him get home via the military and it was a much better homecoming -- he'd pretty much gotten over his jetlag and it was less than a 5-day delay.

Worst case scenario, if you need to cancel Disney...When DH was first deployed, we had to cancel parts of our Disney trip, and they were very accommodating. Southwest gave us a complete refund of his airfare as well.

Hate to be the pessimist, but if I were in your shoes, I'd go ahead and postpone Saturday's party, and just plan on having an impromptu one when he returns. My husband was just totally overwhelmed with just being home, and wanted to gather close family around for the first couple of weeks.

There are some really great military spouses on the board, and I'm sure they can offer better advice. I think there's also a military board as well.

Much pixie dust, and hang in there -- he's coming home!!! Prayers for a safe return and reunion.

ITA. When my Dh got home he just wanted to relax and be with me and the kids, no extended family. Plus his days and nights were mixed up so he would often fall asleep around 6pm and be up at like 3am for about a week. He also had to go back to work for a couple weeks before he was released for leave, he had alot of reintigration briefings to go to.

I know you're anxious to see him, but you have to be patient with the Army. One unit over there was delayed coming home by a couple weeks because of a Chicken Pox quarantine. My DH was delayed by a couple days because of a sandstorm. It's frustrating, but it can't be helped. Even after he got on the plane his homecoming time changed every half hour, I was going crazy. Here's some pixie dust that your DB makes it home very soon pixiedust: .

Military daughter here, sending prayers for your DH and pixie dust for you! And BTW, it's totally ok for you to be angry, scared, upset, and stressed out. Just try to find a way to make some lemonade! :wizard: :flower3: :cheer2: :grouphug: :cutie: :) :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

One XTRA LARGE order of PD headed your way! Thanks so much for your family's sacrifice to protect mine!:grouphug: pixiedust:

QUICK AND SAFE TRIP HOME!
PLEASE THANK HIM FOR HIS SERVICE FOR OUR COUNTRY!!! :grouphug: :wizard: PIXIE DUST!!!!

Hugs, prayers and pixie dust sent all the way to Iraq (OK, the prayers were sent to heaven:thumbsup2 ) but you know what I mean.

Tell him thanks, and all of the others on here with military family members - hugs and thanks!!!!!!

From a former military wife, husband retired Jan. 1 with 30 years service, this is standard operating procedure. They give them a projected travel date but nothing with the military is in concrete. Everything is always subject to change.:rotfl: You belive it when they actually walk off that plane. Sending pixie dust and prayers your way. Hang in there. He will be home eventually. Like a previous poster said, their time schedule is really messed up. My husband was up at odd hours after he came home from a year in Kuwait. It took him about a week to readjust.

Jakesmom: prayers (first) hugs, kisses and pixie dust to you and your family!!!!:lovestruc :wizard: :grouphug:
and tell him "thank you!" from all of us!!!

Pixie Dust and Prayers:worship from a very grateful trip to WDW starting today. Might never have been possible without the sacrifces of our heroes,:thumbsup2 '
