I can't believe it is already time to think about school again. My kids start next Thursday. Last year when they came home they would get whatever they found in our snack cabinet which was usually a little debbie cake of some kind. I really want to change that for this year. I get home from work at the same time they get off of the bus and want to be able to provide them with much healthier snacks.

What are some of the things you feed your kids when they come home from school??????

Fruit seemed to work out the best for us. Apples with caramel sauce or peanut butter were some of the favorites. Good luck!

My DD started Kindergarten a few weeks ago. She gets off of the bus at 4. I typically start cooking dinner soon after she gets home. She will have a cookie or 2, or some fruit to hold her until dinner. We always have lots of fresh fruit to choose from, I think that is the best option! She packs her lunch and a snack for school, but itis typically healthy, she doesnt pack any snacky type stuff, so I am ok with 2 cookies when she gets home. I prefer to just cook earlier so she doesnt fill up on other food and then not eat dinner. I would prefer her just have dinner and then maybe a small snack later of needed.

Goldfish/cheezits or popcorn with grapes. Clementines when they are in season and on sale.

When my daughter was younger and had to ask for a snack, I had a basic rule: After 4pm, I put out veggies and dip and that was all that was available until dinner. If she filled up on veggies, I was find with that. There were times that she ate a small dinner, but only because she was full of veggies.
Now that she is 13, I have less influence on her and she is in a junk food stage! I just make sure that she eats a salad with dinner.

Cut up fruit w/ almond butter, veggies w/ hummus, string cheese....I have no kids but I love snacks!

My DD likes yogurt bananna splits or smothies and pop corn sprikled with cinnamon and splenda. We also get the frozen chocolate covered banannas at trader joes but you could easily make your own. Whole wheat mini bagels with strawberry or blueberry cream cheese. Trail mix with cheerios, dark choc chips , nuts and raisins. She also likes the fibersure bars.
