Okay, this is a bit off topic but I need some help. Does anyone know if those gymboree bucks get you a good deal? I recall that the last time I tried to use them, NOTHING in the store was on sale. So I bought an outfit for $50, used $25 gymbucks, and got the outfit for $25. The same outfit had been on sale for about $26 the week before.

I need to ask this because DD is invited to a birthday party for twins, so I need two gifts. (birthdays kill my budget) Am considering trying to score a deal at Gymboree but want to see what you experts think.

You know, we have been trying to budget and save money for a December 2006 Disney cruise, but it is so hard to budget for the extras, like all these kid parties, the air conditioner breaking down, etc.

IMO they are a good deal if you shop at Gymboree anyway and use them to buy things that are in your budget. They are not a good deal if you "spend just to save."

When I have Gymboree or Limited Too bucks, I only use them if I need something at the time. If I don't, then I pass them on to someone who needs them or sell them on Ebay.

Gymboree is a nice gift, but honestly usually only people into Gymboree appreciate the clothing.

If you already have the Gymbucks and aren't going to use them, you should sell them on Ebay. They are worth at least $10 each.

Gymboree just came out with 2 new lines if you look on their website. The sweater coat in kid girl would make a really nice gift but I'm not sure what you are looking to spend.

I wouldn't depend on selling those Gymbucks on eBay. Gymboree often gets those auctions cancelled, as technically the Gymbucks are not supposed to be transferred.

Do you have Gymbucks to use? If so, it might be worth a trip to the local Gymboree to see what's on sale -- mostly summer stuff this time of year.

Personally, I prefer Landsend and L.L. Bean for kids clothes. I've found some really cute items on the Overstocks section of http://www.landsend.com and the Sale section of http://www.llbean.com.

I always stick to $15 or less per child for gifts (other than for my own kids). I make a game out of trying to get the nicest gift possible for $15.

I guess it depends on what you buy. I got my current gymbucks when I bought some items on sale. The items I bought were marked down a lot, not just 20%. There are still summer items that are on sale, if you use your gymbucks to buy those then you are getting a really good deal.

Otherwise, try to stick as close to the $50 increments as possible to maximize your discount. It will be a 50% discount. I love Gymboree clothes, but I refuse to buy them full price. I like the styles and I think they hold up well. Some of their things cost more than others. I can typically find some nice outfits where 50% off is a reasonable price.

I am going to try to go tomorrow and see what they have in fall fashions. My kids don't need any more summer clothes.

If you use them for things that are already on sell, as other posted stated, they are an awesome deal. If something is already 50% off, then condsider you get another 50%. You can sell them but is against policy and yes they will cancel your auctions if they find it. My dd is almost outgrowing their stuff (I mean she does not like as much...........) but the pool party line is so cute............and they ahve matching beach bags, hats, towels................that would be cute because they are already marked down. If you dont want them, I will gladly take them
