Many of you knew Chris aka notatourist who posted on these boards for many years and was a VIP guide. She lost her battle with cancer and passed away. Chris and I have been friends for many, many years and still talked regularly on the phone when she left Orlando to stay with her parents during treatment. It has been a month since we talked because I have been busy at work but, the last time we talked, I know she was very weak but hopeful, as was I. We were co-workers and friends and I will miss her terribly.
A recent phone call to her comes to mind. I called her on the opening day of the Harry Potter land so we could talk while we watched the media stories unfold on tv. We watched the crowds together on tv and the opening ceremonies. We talked of our love for the great composer John Williams and both said how he was the celebrity we would want to see at the ceremonies, much more than the HP stars. We laughed about how we both wished we were there during the crowds to experience it as team members and how we were also glad we were not working that day. It was bittersweet to us since she was accustomed to being at all of the great media events and grand openings, and yet, here we both sat at home watching it all unfold on tv. She truly loved Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure and her job there and she was the one who encouraged me to apply for work there 6 years ago. Her love of the parks became my love of the parks. She was an inspiration to me and a lifelong friend and I will always carry a part of her with me, down deep in my soul. Rest in peace my dear friend. Smile down on us during the Macy's Parade.
