OT: Garmin GPS

Hi everyone! I have an off-topic question that seems to fit on the Transporation board best. I am looking at purchasing a Garmin 650 GPS to use both in my car and in rental cars. The box says that it is pre-loaded for the US & Canada. However, on the Garmin website, I see an SD card with maps of North America. Does anyone know if these are the same maps that come pre-loaded? Or are these better maps?

verify that the garmin has following map: City Navigator North America NT 2008. That is the map update that recently has been released.
