I put this on the budget board too...

my coworker got an email from a gentleman from London re a late relative that has millions in limbo & hes trying to search out extended family yo claim it before it goes to the government.
She doesnt know this person that passed, but she does have family overseas, so its possible they are related.

The email asks only for email & fax to send forms.
He asks for no money

Is this completely wierd??

wouldnt that be nice if that happened to one of us...could you imagine the DFTW we'd have...all the bells & whistles....could even invite all of you DIS girls.

Anyway...should she email him & see whats up??

completely fake--- ive had SO many of those and seen dateline and 20.20 talk about these SO many times....

its completely fake!

I got one today in my email somewhat similar-- someone in London, she called me Margie:laughing: -- wanting to meet me from drinks-- blah blah blah... then left her contact info and a website (the website is where htey get ya with virus's, etc)..

a lot of those things are stating they are from "London"

.....sorry:confused3

the good thing is that she figured it was bogus , so I just thought Id confirm it with you guys.

Thank god she didnt follow up on it

thanks for your help
;)

I meant to include that ive had that same email before-- someones died and they need to get ahold of someone-- and you are somehow related (so completely not true)....soi they can give you the money.

They do this a lot with email addresses that are names or come up with you rname when you send it...

like mine is Margaret-Anderson@-------- So she called me Margie-- as if she thinks shes a friend of mine and a more personable name.

Ive totally NEVER went by Margie (except for a friend in HS called it to me because he knew it got on my nerves-- )

Bummer, huh?:sad2:

IGNORE IT!!!! I agree with Maggimus. That are fake beyond belief!!! :sad2: A few years ago, I got one and opened it and followed the directions and the website put so many viruses on my computer that it completely crashed it. Mine are typically from Africa stating that someone left me millions. Yeah, right. I wish!!:rotfl2: Be careful!!!

Margie!

How are you my lovely? Just wondered how you were fixed for this weekend as me and Ben would love to see you for some drinks and a catch up. Coming up for a break really. We're going to watch the Nero quartet play Ben's new piece which he wrote last year. concert in Leicester on Friday at lunchtime at the Conservatoire on Monday if you're free. Have taken half day on Friday and Monday off work as so shattered and just need a couple of days off.

How's work going. You seem v.happy Margie. That's so great. You still with this man? Want to know all the details on the weekend. We don't have that much planned yet. Want to go shopping on Sat day for a bit and we defo want to go to Dilshad in eve for a curry. Missing my Birmingham Curries. So, let us know when you're around and hopefully we can meet up.

Have a good day sweetie,

Loads of love,

Nicki xxxx

I've gotten two or three that are from some bank in africa for some reason.. lol :confused3

they say there was a rich person who passed away and they had no family so the money is all going to go to the government and the person emailing me is some bank executive and basically if I give my information they will list me as a relative to this rich african man and I'll get a portion of the money and the banker will get another portion of it.

soooo weird! I first though, how do I know someone in AFRICA of all places?!?

anyway.. delete it as fast as you can!

These kind of emails are a big problem here in the UK and people have been conned out of thousands of pounds because of them - some of them want your bank details so that you can "help them" by letting them transfer millions of pounds into your account. Some people fall for them - they are all fake and fraudulent. NO-ONE gives money away for free! Be very careful :(
