Hey Everyone, just wondered if anyone else saw the news reports that Disney is planning a sequel to Enchanted for next year. I must admit I thought the original movie was really cute. I loved the big production numbers, and how Disney subtlely poked fun at itself. I thought Amy Adams was absolutely fabulous in it too.

Here's the article if you're interested.

'Enchanted' to see second chapter

Thanks for the info. I hope they put as much effort into this one as they did the first and not just make it a quick cash grab. I really enjoyed "Enchanted". Do you think they will combine the 2D animation and live action again?

I enjoyed the movie as well. I hope they come up with some imaginative things for the sequel.

Thx a mint for the post, Dave :thumbsup2

I :lovestruc Enchanted and can't wait

cheers,
:flower3:

"Enchanted" is one of my favorite Disney films - practically perfect in every way. As much as I enjoy it, I really don't think the film requires a sequel. "Mary Poppins", another one of my favorites, survives in popularity without a sequel and I think "Enchanted" can do the same. A sequel risks tainting the first film.

Aren't there enough creative folks at the Disney Studios to come up with new ideas without cranking out sequel after sequel to popular films? It's the same mentality that clones the same attractions around the world so that all the Disney parks lose their uniqueness and guests lose their motivation to visit different parks. Yes, I know, it's all about $$.

Didn't John Lasseter say the days of sequels and cloned attractions were over? Oh, well...

Michael

The same John Lasseter making Toy Story 3?

Seriously, I do see your points Michael. Although I will say I like well done sequels. It's nice to revisit characters, and I really like the characters in Enchanted (and Mary Poppins too). I guess what it always comes down to is story. If it's a good story, then it will be a good movie... time will tell.

Not to burst your bubble, but Disney did want to make a sequel to Mary Poppins, however P.L Travers hated the music and mixture of cartoon and human, and banned the making of a sequel. She also disallowed the Sherman Brothers to write any more music for Marry Poppins, including the stage version.

So Disney did want to, but is legally unable to!

and cars 2!

Sounds great, I enjoyed the first Enchanted. One of my daughters favorite movies still.

Enchanted is one of our favorites! I have been hoping for a sequel! I wish disney had done more merchandise/meet and greet in park type things w/ this movie, maybe this time.

Oh I would LOVE a sequel (a well made sequel)- this really was one of my favorite movies! But I love the Prince, he was so funny, I hope he would still be in it too even though he went back to Andalasia. I can't wait, I hope it happens!

I loved Enchanted!
Maybe it was just because Enchanted was my free birthday movie, but I don't think so.

Wonder which way they would go with a sequel?

I bet that they would have them go visit Andolashia and shenanigans will ensue. :lmao:It seems with sequels they always visit the other side of the coin in the plot. That would be my plot guess. Can't wait. I hope they can get Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey back.

Good movie sequels do exist. I hope this Enchanted sequel will be one of them. I'm also a huge fan of the film.

Me too. I was disappointed there wasn't a Giselle Meet n' Greet and I always thought an Andalasia Dress Shop would have been a great addition to Fantasyland.

There's just one giant problem inherent with having a meet and greet with Giselle. I don't think you can cast people to portray her in the parks unless they looked like clones of Amy Adams.

They did put her in a parade briefly, but she was far enough away to be believeable. It's harder because she wasn't featured as an animated character for the entire film.

I actually thought of that, but they have Mary Poppins and Jack Sparrow. :confused3

I really enjoy this film. The blu ray has a great feature that allows you to pick out all the references to other films.

DD will be very happy :goodvibes

I enjoyed Enchanted too, had to visit the fountain in Central Park where they sang the "How Does She Know" song when we went to NYC and took a picture of DW there :)

A whole bunch of movies were shot in that spot. One other that comes to mind is Ransom. It's where Mel Gibson's character's kid was kidnapped.

!

But there were additional songs placed in the Broadway production.

I'm not so thrilled about an Enchanted sequel. I also wish that Disney would leave good enough alone at times. We've seen so many retreads of old movies ushered forth and to be coming, including:

  • Herbie (Lindsey Lohan? Please...)
  • Witch Mountain
  • Pirates 1, 2, 3, and 4
  • Alice in Wonderland (I know this is a much different take)
  • Toy Story 1, 2 & 3
  • Cars 1 & 2
  • Tron
  • Enchanted

And of the original ideas, can we expect more G-Force & Bedtime Stories?
