OT - Diaper Dilemma (Need New Brand Ideas)

My son (turns two next month) wears White Cloud diapers but I have noticed that since the weather is warmer and he isn't wearing onesies anymore that the top of his diaper is folding over the adhesive tape and his diaper is slipping down in the back. He is in the appropriate size and is extremely active. Has anyone had this problem with White Cloud? If so, what brand do you recommend (Besides Pampers as they cause a skin rash)? I would appreciate any help, this is so frustrating. Thanks!

When my little one was little I had the problem of her undoing the diapers so I put them on backwards. Then I resorted to duct tape! I'm not sure if either of those would work for you.

Luvs worked perfectly fine for us. No leaks! And they're cheap!

If your little one is sorta thin, don't go with Huggies. My small girls leaked in them. They're made for chunky legged babies.

My super thin dd actually did much better in Huggies than Pampers. She consistently blew out of Pampers and Huggies fit her great.

Ds on the other hand, didn't fit well in Huggies and does great in Pampers. Go Figure!

Oh and ds isn't chunky or skinny.

have you tried the walmart brand? i have used them for babies and older toddlers and never had any of the problems you mentioned. i have used most of the other brands occasionally and while the walmart ones don't look/feel as nice they seem to function perfectly fine-- even better than some of the name brands i have tried.

Pampers was my first choice (till I read about the rash) So it would have to be LUVS!

We like Huggies for our DS - he's on the skinny side and they fit perfectly. Also, I don't like the "weave" texture on the Pampers (not sure if they've changed that since DS tried those). Luvs worked good but I didn't like the *perfumey* smell.
We also tried the Target brand in the past and didn't have any real problems with those either. My only complaint was that they sort of felt stiff after a wet diaper.

I was going to suggest pull-ups. . .at 2 he is probably much too active for a diaper and pull-ups stay put. . .like underwear. . .

Would you consider using cloth??? I used cloth for my girls and they were awesome. There are some super easy (and adorable) diapers out now..no more folding and using pins. You don't have to worry about rashes..cause there are no yucky chemicals in them and it may help to learn to use the potty faster (they can feel when they are wet). If you are al all interested let me know and i will give you some links to awesome vendors. They are a bit more expensive at first (then buying disposible diapers) but you reuse them and they actually have a really high resale value if they are kept in good shape!!

I was going to suggest cloth as well. I used them for my oldest because she was always so hot. We often had her in nothing buy her diaper if we were at home, and cloth dipes are so cute. She was also potty trained very early because she could tell when she was wet and uncomfortable, and really cloth is not THAT much more work than disposables. At least I didn't find them to be.

DS kept leaking through at night in Pampers, so I called huggies and asked them what kind he should be wearing if I was to switch him over. They sent me a $5 coupon to try out Huggies and we have not looked back. We are using the Dry kind, in the white package no the natural fit. He's a skinny little guy, but we did find that once they hit the min. weight for a size in diaper to switch to that and that also stopped the leaks.

Thanks everyone - I will be trying both Luvs and Huggies to see which works better. DD was in Pampers and we never had an issue, but each child is different, right?

I haven't really thought about cloth diapers - but my mom tells me that she had to use them with me when I was a baby because my skin was so sensitive I couldn't tolerate disposables. Figures my kids inherited my sensitive skin

Seeing his little booty crack was funny the first few times, but I don't want to be staring at it all summer long

I know you said DS is wearing the appropriate size diaper, but this really sounds like a size problem. I used White Cloud diapers on both of my kids and loved their quality (esp. for the price), but I found the size and weight recommendations weren't terribly accurate sometimes. You may have noticed that the weight recommendations actually overlap on the different sizes... different kids carry their weight in different areas of their body. The best way for me to figure that I needed to go up a size in diapers was if I noticed gaps around the waist or legs or if we started having regular blow-outs.

Is there a size larger that you could try? If so, try that and see if it helps. At the worst case, you'll have a pack of diapers that won't get worn for a few more months.

Just in case people don't know, Pampers and Luvs are both made by Proctor and Gamble...so it's possible that the fit will be similar between the two styles.
