Has anyone here ever been to A day out with Thomas or the Pennsylvania dutch country? Just wondering if it was fun or any other experiences? We're planning to go in June and are starting to look for info and accomadations. Thanks,Jen

My sister took her daughter a couple of yrs ago and they really enjoyed it. My dad went with them and he enjoyed it as well.

I've thought about taking DS but it's a long trip. Friends of ours went. They loved it, but said it was verrrrrrrry busy and crowded. Despite that, I'd still recommend it from everything they said.

We took our son to Utica, NY to see Thomas, and it was great. Thomas is very realistic, perfect in every detail. I notice you are in Brockville, we are in Ottawa. The drive to Utica took about 4 hours, so it would be about 3 hours for you. We went the last weekend of June. I would have loved to go to Lancaster, PA, but we could never fit the 8 hour drive in our schedule. Check the Thomas website, he may be in Utica again this summer and it would save you some driving. I would still love to go to PA sometime, and go to the Hershey themepark.

Thanks Faye, I'll check. Utica would be a good drive. As for Hershey... we live too close to the one in SF!!! :earboy2:

Thanks everyone! Yes, Hershey park is also one of the reasons we want to do the Thomas thing in PA instead of NY. From what I've read Hershey Park is a huge amusement park definitely not just a factory like Smiths Falls :cool1: My mom ssays it's about a 6 hour drive which is pretty far to take ds who will only be 2yrs then. Tickets for Thomas don't go on sale until March so I still have some time to decide. What can I say I'm just an obsessive planner  Thanks, Jen

:cool1: If you can get to Lancaster,PA,and the Amish communities, you will have a wonderful time. We've visited there 3 times, and love it as much every time. The people are wonderful, and there is much to learn from their lifestyle. :cheer2: Disney it's not,but it's just as rewarding, and I would highly recommend a trip to Intercourse,PA (yes, that's the place name !) to anyone who can possibly get there. There are lots of great places to stay!
Have fun!
Kirsten in Nova Scotia :wave2:

I've been to Amish Pa several times as we used to live in Maryland. We really enjoyed the food, shoofly pie is yummy!

There are amazing quilts and other crafts.

I allways felt a bit weird though, in taking their pictures, I mean, they are people, and this is just how they choose to live. The tourist part is kinda creepy really. It is very touristy there, and I don't know how much of the area is really authentic.

anyway, just my 2 cents.
