OT - Clearwater Hotel

My f-i-l is very sick. DH and I went down to Clearwater last week to visit him and m-i-l. It now seems we may have to go back down soon for a funeral, and we will bring the kids.
I'm looking for any advice on hotels in Clearwater (they live in the retirement community of On-Top-Of-The-World). We do not want to stay in Clearwater Beach, but wouldn't mind a pool in case we stay some extra days. I don't need fancy, but need clean.

I looked around a little last week, does anyone know anything about the Fairfield Inn by Marriott, it looked nice from the outside and hotels.com reviews seem fine.

I also saw the Belleview Biltomore Resort and Spa, which is near the hospital, but the reviews were not very good.

Any thoughts?
