Hey! Last month I posted to see if any one had a Clear Play DVD player....there wasn't anyone but a lot of people were interested.
Clear Play is a dvd player that plays filters, that you download from their website and play regular DVD's on.
We finally bought one at Best Buy, you get a free one year subscription to the filters. Our old DVD player broke, I wanted to by the cheapest thing. This was $40 more and well worth it. (JMO)
It is really cool!
It almost flawlessly skips over bad language, nudity, violence and kissing scenes. It is a very good idea to get if you have kids of different ages or want to watch movies that you have not because of the content.
I limit what my kids watch, violence and to much action make them hyper, they are both boys and just feed off of it. I personally do not care to watch a movie that is throwing around bad words every other word. My DS7 gets scared easily also and has nightmares.
We watched National Treasure 2 the other night with it on for DS7. It was almost flawless. It did not skip over the shooting however it skipped the scene in the oval office where she kisses the man she dated.
We watched Goonies (remember the old movie) it skips the bad language but the bullet wholes and gun chase in the begining is still there. Sloth is shown and not cut out. We did not continue to watch it from that point, DS didn't like it.
So if you were thinking of it, I think it is worth it. You get all the filters they have on their site for the year subscription. I personally wish they would cut out more of the gun shooting.
My only negitive is it is not user friendly or dummy proof. My DH who works in the computer field got confused a little bit. When you download you have to manually unzip the folders, I figured it out but he got confused.
So that is the only thing...they have good directions but you have to follow them you can not walk yourself through it. (Or I could not)
You can also select how filtered you want it to be. We have ours on the highest.
