I've just read a (fiction) story in a magazine that made me cry. Are the stories getting sadder or am I just getting soft - each week I seem to be in tears at some short piece of fiction.

I always cry when i finish a book for some reason.

my mom just bought me some books and they are all so sad. i stayed up all night to finish one *** it was too sad to put it down. it was about a child protection worker and based around three families he has worked with.

I had loads of books for Christmas and I'm working my way through them - they have all been really good ones so far - where you really care about what happens to the characters. Very emotionally draining though!

Oooh very disturbing. I just finished one set in the Mississippi Delta in 1946 - so much racism. I actually cheered when one memeber of the KKK was murdered by his own son.

I bought my husband 7 pairs of socks for Christmas, with the days of the week written on the toes, so they can't be seen when wearing them, but they are easy to match after washing.

just do what my son does and wear odd socks - its a surprise if we see him with matching ones

That sounds like a sad story

it was and it has all happened in ireland in the last 20 years. that makes it worse that its true. he changed locations, names and genders but its all true. he has three books and in a weird way i feel like i have to read them.

made me give ash an extra cuddle last night.

i feel anyone can make a mistake, do their time and thats that but when it involves children on any level it just makes my blood boil.
