OT: ChaCha

Hi everyone. I would like to sign up for chacha, can someone tell me how. I started reading the thread but 240 pages is a little overwhelming

They are not hiring right now, but I am sure even more of us will be quiting now that they have lowered our pay again!!! So if you really want to get paid very very little for a lot of time, then keep your eye out.

I went from making $1500 a month working a few hours in the evening and about 6 hours on the weekend, to barely getting the $100 a month I need to get to actually get paid, and still taking the same amount of time. I waited around forever believing it was actually a system glitch and would get better, but I can clearly see now it is just not worth it anymore. I will finish getting myself to the $100 to get paid, but then I think I am done. Unless somehow I can start getting joke questions and stuff again. I will take .10 for those if I can get them back to back (I would still make as much), but we know that will never happen. I wonder why they even have them listed.

On a side note:
Is the "pay category" based on what the Expeditors put? I recieve so many questions that are not in the right category.... I will be mad if I am getting something coded to the wrong category and it is lower paying.

Yeah, the new pay scale stinks! Every time they update, it's more bad news. I want to tell them to stop updating!

On a related topic, I retested at kgb_and they liked all my answers. I haven't heard anything since, though. I got the email saying that they are on hold with registration. Are they still on hold? Has anyone very recently been activated as a kgb_ guide?

Ever since the announcement, I have been getting a ton of science and math questions (and a few transit ones too). And few "Who is" questions. Either people are removing them from their categories or they are already directing them to those with higher rating? I have 100% right now so assume I will get a lot??? Although I imagine when it goes "live" I probably won't get the higher rate ones.

i lost top guide status for this last week of top guide pay because chacha kept dropping my connection to the universe last week! tech support is still investigating on their end (i got an e-mail from them yesterday wanting more info) but they STILL cut my pay! you think .20 sucks, try working for .10 when you did nothing to deserve the cut! looks like we'll all be "embracing the dime" next week! there goes my trip to wdw!

I've been having a lot of trouble with getting disconnected. I thought it was just me. Thankfully, it usually happens between questions. I have actually gotten more questions in the last three days than I have gotten in a long time. It's weird. Some of them are difficult but most of them are pretty easy. I'm going to answer as many as I can for now because I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I'm not really happy with the new pay structure either. I am just working enough to finish paying for my Illuminations cruise share, and that's it.

I know some people are unhappy with ChaCha and their pay. I have been with them since October 2006 and remember when they were online and you recieved .50 per search. Things have changed, but I am very thankful for the extra money for my family.

I feel great when I make 100.00 per week and am able to buy groceries for the week.

If anyone does want to work for them, they have opened hiring for a very short time. Please send me a message and I will be happy to tell you how to apply.

Granted, you won't get rich, but you don't have to pay gas money, car expenses, babysitter or for clothes (you can work in your PJ's if you like).

I passed the initial test to become a guide. Now they are taking me through orientation and say I will have to take another test. Is this test difficult or should I pass it pretty easily?

The tests have changed since I have been with ChaCha. However, they are pretty simple. If you are good at searching on the internet you should not have any problems. Good luck!

Hi everyone.

I passed the initial test to become a guide. Now they are taking me through orientation and say I will have to take another test. Is this test difficult or should I pass it pretty easily?

The test structure has changed since I signed up, but I do know that about 50% of my friends have failed. The most important thing to remember is to study the materials given (don't think you are just a good test taker and can make it) and its ChaCha, NOT CHACHA or chacha. Oh, and don't use smileys.

I'm so thankful another fellow DISer told me about ChaCha. She doesn't really do it anymore, but still gets the referral bonus off of me, which I imagine is up to $200 total by now. I'm ChaCha-ing HER to WDW! Yes, it sucks the pay was cut, but its still more than I'd be making sitting on my butt watching TV during naptime.

I have some science cats, math, and transit, but I got rid of my WHO IS cat. Still get it sometimes as a generalist though. I think a lot of people signed up for just the higher paying ones. I had them first, I thought "Hey! I should get priority!"

Hi,

My Husband just signed up under me and passed he is going to be a SMS and I am a Expeditor. He is listing under my Team now my husband said that I will get 10 percent of his earnings. Does any one know if this is correct and if it do I get paid once per month with what his makes?

I don't know how it works as far as expiditors and SMS. I am SMS and so are those on my team. I get my 10% as soon as they answer a question. So even though I have been sick, my sister has not and has been working. While laying in bed with the flu I have made $20.

I have found KGBs volume is not even close to ChaCha - maybe that has changed in the past few weeks but to me I hated having to schedule my shift and then I was lucky to make a $1 in 3 hours. I prefer being able to log out if traffic sucks at ChaCha

Thanks for the info. I got an email saying they will deactivate my account if I don't sign up for a shadowing phase, but I don't think I will.
