OT: ChaCha

I miss the days of hitting send and immediately hearing the bell again.

It has been 2 1/2 months of standing on one leg while closing left eye, tilting head to side, and holding breathe just to get a question. It seems like that is what you have to do to get one.

They just tell us over and over again that we are not doing our categories and interest right and that is why we have little traffic. I just wish they would come out and say we have server issues. I will get a question and see in the IS history that the last 5 questions they asked never got answered. Meanwhile guides are not getting questions. That is a server issue.

ChaCha is beyond frustrating and becoming more of a hassle than anything.

Also, what is a KGB agent. I'm assuming its not the Russian spy thing!

Maggie

KGB is a text service that is just starting up in the US - it is the leading text service in the UK. The bad thing is that you have to sign up for hours so it isn't just like ChaCha where you just sign in whenever - but their reasoning is that if you are scheduled for a shift - you will be getting questions. You are an expeditor and guide all in one - and if you send a pre-answered question you get 5 cents - if you send your own answer then you get 10 cents - and I think their training and expectations are much clearer than ChaCha. I am waiting for my final acceptance but I am pretty sure that I will make it through b/c I saw my review - AND GET THIS - they tell you what is wrong with an answer - the reviewer makes notes under your question - like you don't need caps on that or stay under the 102 limit unless you have to go higher. From what I gather - when you finish a question available questions pop up on your screen and you pick which one will answer - there is a supervisor on duty at all times and you can flag a question to go through them for approval before going out - WITH NO PENALTY! You can PM your supervisor with questions about your current question and they will help you with it. AND if you can't find a question - you just tell them and don't charge them.

It is a pay per text service so I am not as concerned with them going belly up. My plan is to both right now and see which works best - or maybe they stay with both.

for anyone who hasn't done so: 1099 forms are available to print-check your e-mail :)

Actually, the past couple weeks for me have been a lot better. They are not immediate back to back. But if I try to open up another window to do something (like surf DIS), the bell will ring so not worth opening up new browser page. So close to back to back.

For about a month, I was lucky to get 20 questions per WEEK! I've had no problems the past 2 weeks with getting to 200 questions (except that I was busy, so my own issues but not ChaChas).

Thanks DVCBelle! I just did the test at kgb. Hopefully I'll hear something from them soon. I'm done with ChaCha. I don't know how many millions of categories and interests I need to add before I get a question...I just don't think it is worth my time any more. Maybe kgb will work out. :hippie:

Yep, I just did the kgb test. I had to take it 2x (math! UGH!:headache:) so I hope that doesn't count against me. Oh well, we'll see. If not, I'll come back to ChaCha, tweak my categories for the 45th time and sit and wait. Thanks for letting us know about this other opportunity! :thumbsup2

I was just officially hired as a KGB agent. I had to take the test twice so it won't count against you. I have to set up all my paperwork now and then start scheduling shifts! I am pretty excited. There is a lot to go through once they invite you to test but I feel better about it than I did about ChaCha!

I am pretty sure I will lost top guide status tomorrow - I got one QC - which wasn't even for the big mistake I know I made last week - so I am pretty sure that I am out on accuracy. With slow questions it stinks!!!

That's awesome about KGB-congrats! :woohoo:

How long from when you finished testing did they let you know? I finished the test and passed, so I'm in the "wait and see" phase.

I lost TG in November..:sad2: Traffic issues plus my schedule has made it impossible for me to regain it.

I applied on Monday night, got the invite to train yesterday morning, trained yesterday afternoon, got the simulation invite
today at 1:00 and finished it at 2:12, by 2:18 I had an email that my work had been reviewed and they would let me know soon - but I was given a link to look at my feedback and at the top the reviewer summarizes how you did - so I knew that my work was good from that.

At 8:40 tonight I got the Congrats email. I have 48 hours to fill out all the paperwork - my son has the flu so I am going to wait until tomorrow and once I have it all submitted then I will be scheduled for a shadow shift. Not sure if that means I watch someone eles or someone watches me work.

One good thing is that they won't have the players ChaCha has - there is no way people who are paying will put up with crap answers and if they have to give too many refunds for your answers you get fired.

DVCBelle, what is the rate per question for pay?

Thanks,
Kelly

Oops sorry...just noticed your other post. Thanks for all the great information on it. Good luck. Please let us know how it goes. I am interested in doing it as well.

I'm just about finished with ChaCha. I'm so sick of hearing that there are no problems with the system when there are guides who can do 4000 questions in a week, yet I'm struggling to even get 100. I've only made TG once since the end of October!

I did pass the test for kgb, but I don't think I passed the simulator. :headache: I got my review back -- within minutes of finishing! -- and 9 of the questions said the reviewer was happy with my response, but I missed one. That brought my overall score down to "These answers were not up to the high standards we expect. One question was not answered, but other than that you gave some good answers/responses."

So just to ask those of you who took the sim, what did you do with the question where the customer wasn't happy with their previous response, and you were supposed to attach the last question in history??? I attached the "meaning of life" question, and it totally messed me up because I hadn't answered it yet.

Oh well, I did try. Is this like ChaCha where you can't take the sim test again, or are you able to try again later?

Just checking in with you all.

TG: 223 searches with 100.0% & 100.0%

I have to live on the computer in order to get TG- I'm getting tired of this and contemplating going over to the dark side ;) !

At KGB - you can take the test again in 30 days so just wait if you don't make it - maybe you will the 2nd level which I think would mean that you just have some extra training.

I was shocked to make top guide this week but excited. I think I might do both for a while and see which is better.

I will - I am completely set up at this point - so I am just waiting to schedule my training. One thing I was slightly nervous about was giving them my checking account information but then I remembered that I had opened a checking account to get a free ipod earlier in the year and I don't use it for anything. I decided to use the account instead of our regular checking account. So that might be something you all might want to think about if you are going to work for them.

Thanks everyone for the kgb info. I'm waiting to see if they will let me train. I'll keep you posted-think happy thoughts and pixie dust! :wizard:
