I don't seem to be making the amounts of money that others are, I'm making far less. :sad1: My queries are coming in back to back so I suppose it's just a matter of being faster.

I think I'm doing better though. I couldn't answer anything in under 3 minutes my first couple of nights. Now tonight I've gotten most in at 3 minutes and some even in at less than 2 minutes.

The sports queries really slow me down. I don't know anything at all about sports. Oh, and weather slows me down too.

One good thing - I can wear my jammies and work!

My first two weeks I was slow! I only made $2-$4 an hour (at .15--old rules). Then I got bumped up to .20 and avged 30 an hour. I stayed at that $6 an hour rate for about 3 months. Just now am I moving up to 40-45 an hour or $8-$9 an hour!!!

I have attempted to register as a guide. I verified my email address and was sent a link to log on to the Search University so I could start studying and take the guide tests. I keep getting errors that say "Sorry, that username or password was wrong.". I tried doing combinations of the user ID, in case I had bad spelling when I registered and such. Since they have my SSN, I can't re-register (That would be the easy thing!).

No replies to requests I've sent through the "Contact ChaCha" through their website. The 800 number is of no help- they just point you back to the website to send a notice through the "Contact ChaCha" page.

I'm getting frustrated, but trying not to loose hope (it's been 6 days since started the journey to become a guide).

I'm also curious how other guides plan on paying for taxes for this year. As a contractor, ChaCha won't be withholding... does that seem to worry anyone? (I hate when I owe the state or feds).

Thanks for your assistance :dance3:

Can you try re-registering with another email? Also, the underground was having lots of problems, you might see if your login works now.

For taxes, I put 30% in a separate savings account as soon as they are deposited. Its like regular withholding for me. I figure 15% federal, 7.5% SE tax, 3.07% PA, and 1.35% local. We rounded up to 30% to be safe. Last year our return was HUGE, so probably come tax time we'll just move this whole sum to regular savings, but its better to be safe than sorry!

I just signed up and am finishing up the registration process. Can anyone tell me what they make on average a week and how many hours it takes them? Thanks!

At first, without clippings and add-ons, I made around $5/hour. Now I find that I can usually do approximately 40 questions per hour on average, more if there's games like football, less if it's all homework questions- those take forever.

So , that makes me earn on average $8/hour. I've had days where I earned up to $10/hour and days that I've made around $6/hour. It depends on whats being asked.

One I agree with.

Question - No i want violence!

Your Response - Sorry I cant give you violence......feel free to ask me something else though! ChaCha!

Your Source - http://autoguides.chacha.com/chachaconversations.aspx?qid=6b266c18-6185-4c63-a31f-b54557cd19c9

THere was nothing in the history side to indicate anything I could give them, maybe I should have given them the definition of violence?

Question - What is a maverick?

Your Response - 1. Southwestern U.S. an unbranded calf, cow, or steer, esp. an unbranded calf that is separated from its mother. MORE? ChaCha!

Your Source - http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/maverick

This looks to be correct to me....

Can anyone help me understand what I did wrong?

Thanks

I'd like to know about those QC emails too! I did a little over a 1000 searches last week and got two. One I followed their protocol and the other I have no idea what I did wrong. Is it like a strike system or something? I really don't want to screw this up!

Vellamint~ Your definition still has to be in the form of a complete sentence. I know it won't all fit but those are the rules. I am assuming you got it for presentation. Try reading the forums over there. They are very informative. I read the QC forum a lot. I figure I can learn from others mistakes and know what not to do.

In the first one it is because of the ....... and because you used cant instead of can't.

The second one is an incomplete sentence. I would have just taken out the SouthWestern U.S. or worked it into a complete sentence.

The second also has a 1. in it and I don't think they like that. QC is very picky about complete sentances.

Click on the weather link at the top of the quicklinks. I can get a weather answer out in 20 seconds with it.

The first one, I would have given the definition of violence. The 2nd one, you are supposed to put the word you are defining first, then the definition (at least that's what I was told when I got one!). ChaCha! ;)

I thought it was okay to use the dictionary.com wordage.....thanks!

Tomorrow is THursday so that is when we find out if we made TG right? So all the searches I have done since I started (I am new) are definitely only the 10 cents right. Everything I have made since this past Sunday will be 20 cents IF I make TG. Do I have this right?

No, your 20 cents will not start till this Thurs at noon if you make TG.

Just a couple of questions, I'm hoping someone can answer.

I just passed the last test and officially became a guide yesterday. Woot! Anyway, I was answering questions last night, and a couple of times, the dashboard, or whatever the area is where you post your answer, closed out on me! Is this something I'm doing? Or is chacha just buggy?

Second question -I thought we got 160 characters to respond? Why in my answer box does it only give me 130? Those extra 30 characters would really help.

Third question -what source do you site when someone asks a question that you would respond to with something like "Chacha doesn't understand your question. It appears to be ambiguous or lacking in terms. Please resubmit with more information." For instance, I got a question last night that just said "BMX". The history showed he had been asking about bmx related things, but it was impossible to tell what exactly he wanted to know. So I replied that he should text back a more clear question -but wasn't sure where to cite.

And what's up with all the sex questions? I seem to be getting lots of questions from people wanting to know how to do certain sexual acts. Just sort of funny to me, especially since I can't describe most of them in 130 characters. :rotfl:

There is one thing that always holds true of ChaCha- it's buggy! It's entirely possible it was a system issue. I didn't have any problems last night, but we might not have been on at the same time.

2- You get 160 characters, but it's shortened by the url. Depending on the size of the url, it will be less. You'll find that almost all answers only give you around 130.

3- For the BMX one, I would have just answered something like a definition. Answering the ambiguous/lacking info answer will get you flagged for accuracy from ChaCha. Just do the best with what you have (or guess ;)). As to a truly incomplete question, I usually quote the "how ChaCha works" page. I've never got a qc for citing that page.

You'll get TONS of sex questions. I actually have it as one of my interests. It doesn't bother me to answer them and I know that I'll never lack questions. :lmao:

My computer crashed last week and I lost my ChaCha dashboard. Can someone post a link?

Thanks....

Just try to log into the universe. It will prompt you to download it before you can do anything.

They changed it to 130 to give room for the new ads.

Hi All!

The TG list is out.

I made it this week with 909 searches, 100% and 99.7% :woohoo:

I noticed that many people had 99.7???? Oh, well, I'll take my .20 cents anyway! :yay:

I hope everyone else made TG too! :teacher:

That's what the Clarify button is for; you will get a QC if you reply with the same or close to the same as the Clarify message as that is considered gaming the system. I would have given some BMX information that had not already been given. The only time I've hit Clarify is for something like this: ;lkasdf;lijwelfxz;lcjff which I have gotten 1 or 2 times.

I always seem to get QCs right in a row. One was for presentation - I used the all caps from Mapquest in my directions - so I deserved that.

Then the other one was where someone said "you better check yourself before you wreck yourself." - looking at their history that is all they were doing was giving quote after quote so I said - Don't forget to tell your friends and family to give us a try! ChaCha for now! Text back soon!
and I got a QC for accuracy. There is no accurate answer for that. UGH!!!

Here is my question - those were questions from last week not this week but I just got the QC and my accuracy was 100% - I don't see how they can give me a QC on something from last week and count it in my accuracy for this week. Seems to me if they can't QC it in the proper time frame they can't ding me this week for something I have already received my evaluation for.
