As an independent contractor, no taxes are being taken out - so what are you doing? How are you handling this?

Ive told a couple girlfriends about this, and one of them brought this up - and I was stumped.

I am just keeping money in my savings account. We put money in there from every paycheck pretty much so we always have reserves!

Yea I actually have no idea how taxes will be handled I just started Sunday night just racking up some money right now dont rly know how it will work out taxwise.

I finally put myself active and finished the sim. I will be freaking until I get my e-mail from CHACHA because during my first two inquires my dashboard closed while I was searching. I sent a note to feedback, and I am hoping that they look at my other times and answers and realize that I'm not a total loser!

I actually work as a 1099 employee at my other job. DH usually claims less exemptions so that the taxes are paid out of his paycheck, esentially. He overpays taxes and that makes up for my income when it is figured out at tax time.
We tried budgeting so that 30% was being put aside but it didn't work very well for us! (I kept sneaking in and using the money!)

I wish I could get my sound to work...it works for everything but ChaCha. It says I need to download the latest verison of Flashplayer and I have 3 times and it still doesn't work.

What about Social Security taxes? Do you have to pay those also?

I am still perplexed on how Chacha makes money to pay all these many guides - and by reading this thread, the number of guides must be growing in leaps and bounds!

Previous posts said it's from advertising, but who is advertised to? The users? How do advertisers make money on this service? I am just confused on how this is a viable business.

Oh well! Nevermind! Maybe it's one of life's little mysteries!

This is what has happened to me when I loaded everything on my other pc

Make sure the button at the top reads "Turn sound off". When I first started, I was in such a nervous panic that I misread the button and thought it said "sound off", so I clicked it, thereby turning the sound off. What a dork!

I have the pay me now option. But I have discovered I really hate hitting that button! I was up to $400 when I hit it the first time. It was so horrible to see my balance all the way back down to zero! I love getting paid though!

What do you do when someone asks something that may be very disturbing? I was just asked what to do if you have injured your expecting girlfriend.
I gave him anger management info. & said the woman should see a doctor. Shouldn't I report this somehow? Did I handle this right?

You did the right thing. And no, you don't report it. The only time you hit the abuse button is when they are asking for illegal information. Like how to make a bomb, how to commit a crime, how to make crack or meth. Then you hit abuse. I don't really think that most of them are real questions. If you had a medical emergencie would you call 911? or text chacha for their advice? I take those with a "what if this happened?" type scenario.

True, I would have called 911, but a young man may be afraid of being arrested for doing what he said he had done. I was just shocked by the question.

Are we supposed to hit the Abuse button if someone sends in a question using the "N" word? The question was "Tell me a racist joke about "N's". I did flag it as abuse because I thought the training guide said to use it for situations like that. If they hadn't of used the N word, I would have just found a non-hateful joke about whatever they are asking about.

I agree.
I do usually add to call 911 if it is a medical emergency because ChaCha can't help them.

I once had someone ask what they should do because their best friend sitting next to them just spontaneously combusted. Pretty sure that was just a prank.
