You know, I'm wondering if all this busy traffic is going to slow down once school starts again.

Once all the bored teens & preteens get back in the classroom, I bet a lot of the "what did I just eat" questions will go away?

Yea, I am bummed! Saturday nights are usually hoppin and I am waiting 15-20 min. in between questions. I never wait that long. I have my keywords loaded up so I am usually going the whole time i'm on. Oh well, at least I can catch up on the dis boards.

This was my first Saturday with ChaCha and it seemed slow. I'm glad it wasn't just me. It is usually better on Saturdays? Do you think everyone is at the Dark Knight movie?

As many times as I've pulled up stuff about that, I wouldn't doubt it!

i was on from about 9:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. last night and the queries came really fast. i quit when i'd made 5.00. that put me up to 30.00 for yesterday. i'm sorry the late night was slow for you guys. first time i've heard of that happening on a weekend night.

i'm afraid of this too, i even told DH i was afraid the work was going to dry up once school started. i hope not...

I think there were system problems last night. I was on the chacha forum and there was talk of it so I think that's why it was slow. Actually, I figure once school starts, we'll be even busier. Lots of bored kids either sitting in dorm rooms, or chacha-ing at parties. Have you noticed most of the questions come from Utah or Indiana? Once these Utah and Indiana kids get back to school (especially if they go to school out of state), I think the word will spread and we'll be even busier!

I have a theory about the slowness of the system & all the little (or big) glitches we are seeing. I think that the service has maybe expanded even a little faster than they were anticipating - they keep upgrading servers, but even that isn't solving all their tech problems. It seems they have IT working on stuff, but anytime I get a "high volume alert", I can't even log in to answer questions.

I'm not complaining - I'm making reasonable $$ on the off-times and I have a chance to DIS too. I think eventually they'll work out the tech issues with their recent growth & all will be well again.

I was on last night until about 10:30 pm or so - it was working fine but started getting sluggish toward the end. Happy ChaCha'ing to all!

As for going 10-20 minutes without questions - sometimes I think the system gets confused. My doorbell will ring, but no question will ever come up and I won't get the "other guide" message either. Then it will go several minutes with no questions - so maybe the system thinks I'm in a search, but I'm really not. Sometimes switching from Available to Away then back again will "reset" it and other times I actually have to log out and log right back in. If it is more than a few minutes during a normally busy time, you might try that because it may just be stuck somewhere.

I think it is a server problem for underground. I had that before too. Give it a little while and try again.

No - the fee is a "processing fee" of some sort for ChaCha to transfer the funds to the bank.

The bank charges no fees for using the card (at least it's advertised as a no-fee card) - but you'll pay ATM withdrawal fees. I've taken to just getting cash back when I make a purchase with it rather than pay $2.00 or more in ATM fees when I want cash.

the way i understand it (and i know someone will correct me if i'm wrong, lol) each time you hit the "pay me now" button, you're charged a $2.00 processing fee. i know, that's 10 questions, but i'm willing to pay it to avoid having to wait for the middle of the month (and usually later) to get paid. i warn ya though, it's depressing to see your balance zero out, lol, but it sure is exciting to see it in your firstib account! i was a SAHM with no income for almost 9 years before chacha and i can't tell you what a great feeling it is to have money of my own again!
