I have been a guide for a couple weeks and have some questions for you pros out there if you don't mind -

I have never gotten a QC message but saw a PP say they were a Top Achiever, how do you know your status and what it means?

Has anyone who has set up the direct deposit payment received an ACH or EFT into their bank yet?

TIA!

I'm not a pro by any means - about all I know is that every week they have a listing of Top Guides.

They give monetary prizes in a couple of different categories, like - most searches with 100% accuracy (top 3 get cash prizes); 100% accuracy with over 250 searches (random drawing from eligible guides); over 95% accuracy with over 250 searches (random drawing). You can still be named a "Top Guide" even if you don't win a prize - your name is on the list they post (on Esther's blog) weekly.

I've gotten the Top Guide email twice, but I haven't been lucky enough to win a random drawing yet! And I don't come CLOSE to what the top searchers do in terms of searches per week!

Happy ChaCha-ing!

ETA: I got a referral from WDWBetsey...thanks everyone...we'll see how it goes!

Thanks for all the info everyone!

Thanks ajh88 for the info.

Anyone know about the direct deposit? I would much rather use this payment so my hard earned $2 won't be used as a transfer fee.

TIA!

Is it me, or is ChaCha slow tonight? It's taking forever for anything to load for me. Anyone else having trouble?

Their system is being slow. But I have gotten 5 texts from them saying that they are experiencing high volume now would be a good time to log on. It just taking forever for the pages to load. I do know that they are doing some upgrades tonight/early tomorrow morning sometime. So maybe that has something to do with it. but i am make plenty of money tonight!

Yup, I just logged off after about 8 searches. It was taking forever to validate, running the time up. I did see where they are doing maintenance in the morning. I hope it fixes whatever the issue is.

Hi. I'm a new guide and I can't get into the forums at Cha Cha so I thought I'd come here and see if anyone noticed how slow it is tonight on there (isn't is great how we can count on the Dis for everything?). I'm glad to see that I am not the only one. I was having fun but it was taking so long to load I got frustrated and logged out. See y'all in the universe! Cha Cha On!

Has anyone been a guide long enough that they would have used this on their taxes? How does it work?

I'm interested in doing it, but I'd like to know that before I did anything else...

Uggh! Going to bed. ChaCha stinks tonight. Too slow and as a result, I get timed out on my responses. Here's to a better day tomorrow.

I can't even get the ChaCha page to load this morning! I thought I'd answer a few questions since I was up early this morning and I keep getting a message that the page is either too busy or down and to try reloading in a few minutes.

While I'm here complaining about ChaCha, can someone explain the tax situation with ChaCha to me? If you make under $600 they do not issue you tax forms, so do you still have to declare it on your taxes as income while working as an independent contractor and pay taxes on that money? I assume if you make over $600 and get issued the tax forms then you'll pay a boatload of taxes as an independent contractor. Our taxes are done by an accountant, but I still want to make sure I know what's going on when I hand her all of our paperwork from the end of the year.

They were doing scheduled maintenance early this morning. I believe it's done now.

I really don't want to give tax advice since my situation could be different than yours. Here's a page on the IRS website that should answer your questions regarding being an independent contractor. Hope this helps!

Thanks for link to the independent contractor info from the IRS. I sent my accountant an e-mail. If I understand correctly, there's a threshold at which you need to make quarterly estimated tax payments. Since I don't plan on making more than $600 a year, I figure I don't have to do that. But, I want to make sure I understand the tax implications of being an independent contractor.

I just wanted to give my 2 cents on the whole Debit Card Pay Me Now thing.....it stinks! My bank, Commerce, charges $2.50 to withdraw $$!! I thought I was being all smart withdrawing the $ and depositing it into my account...was worth $2 to do it asap....NOT worth $4.50!! Makes me sick to think how many questions I answered & just WASTED!

As soon as I got home, I reset my payment method & went the direct deposit route! Just faxed over my voided check.

I guess it works if you want to use the debit card in stores...but I want the $ split between my Winter Oil Fund & my Disney Vacation Fund!

How long after you submitted your info did you get the email to take the 3 part test? I sent my info in early yesterday and still haven't heard anything from them. I hope it didn't end up in the spam folder. If so, it may have been deleted.

I've worked for years very part time as in idependent contractor and never made quarterly payments. Acct says my dh pays in enough to cover what I'd have to pay and it would work out in the end. She told me to pay quartly if I ever went closer to full time.

I sent mine in late last night and just got a reply late this afternoon giving me instructions on how to take the tests, etc. So hopefully you got your invitation by now...

Now, my laptop is acting wonky (sloooooooow) so I dont think I'll take the test until it straightens out! Ugh

Crap. I bet it got deleted. Do you remember what the title of the email was?

I have a question on the debit card...

is it just a card like a regular ATM card or is it one that has a Visa/MC/Amex logo on it so you can use it like a credit card. In other words, could I use it to call and make a payment on to my vacation reservation, or online shopping?
