Can you tell me a better way I should have answered this?

I got a QC for this:

Question - what is the Dodger score?

Your Response - San Diego 3, LA 0. Top of the 5th. Thank you for using ChaCha.

Your Source - http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/lad

Reason for Feedback - Presentation

If you look in the KB, there is a preferred format for sports questions, but you also could've used complete sentences.

I'm so freaked out right now...I came downstairs after getting changed and DD is on the computer in an active session! And I can't log in to see if she "answered" questions for me. The underground is down!

I am new too! My question is if you keep getting quesiton after question how do you set your status to Away?

I wasn't able to set my status to away a few times and I really needed to get up and away from the computer. So I just didn't do anything. I didn't click ok or x out the box for the next incoming query. When I came back and did click ok, ChaCha had logged me out. So as long as i don't get penalized for it. Which I'm not sure. That's what I've had to do a few times. Cuz you know sometimes you just gotta go!

If you can't set it to Away because the questions keep coming in, just let that box sit there, the one that you have to click on to accept the question, I can't remember exactly what it says. After a few minutes (not sure how long, could be anywhere from 1-5 minutes), you can click on the OK (or Accept, whatever) and you will get a message that you have been logged out of ChaCha. This is not a ding against you. It will not affect your completion or accuracy rating.

I wish I had the problem of getting them back to back today. They slowly trickle in for me today even after logging out for the restart.

As far as I can tell, there is no way to make your reply look like the one in the Formatting Guide.

In the tips for formatting sports scores, it says,
* include current status for games still in progress (e.g. "with 4:13 left in 4th Quarter")
* include start time if game has not yet begun
* home teams are typically listed last in box scores

Their example looks like this, with a box around it so that it's supposed to look like a cell phone screen:
Penn State 38
Wisconsin 7
Final in NCAA football on
Saturday, 10/13/07.
QB Anthony Morelli threw
for 216 yrds and 1 TD.

Obviously the QC has nothing to do with complete sentences.

Shockingly, I was approved as a guide this afternoon! But I'm sure I'm the worst guide ever since it takes me FOREVER to find/format answers. I've timed out a few times in the first 10 questions!

I always thought I was quite internet saavy and great at finding info, prior to chacha! Now I don't know! I'll never make any money at this rate! How long does it take all of you on average to answer most questions, ya think?

Also, if the underground is down, are you automatically NOT getting paid? Questions were coming in back to back this afternoon and I wondered if it was because everyone goes AWAL when the underground goes down due to no money?

I tried using the format for weather but it doesn't work. I try to use the new line but when I click the button to verify the answer, it all shows up as one line. If I do get QCed for this, I will have to fight against it because it is not possible to new line.

I just put commas between each part and I haven't ever been QC'd.

WendyisDarling: That is the simulator test. JUst like answering real questions. Just answer 10 of them and log off and wait for an email.

I got mine in about 24 hours. Started yesterday and have made $25 so far. But if I can make TopGuide...next week that $25 would be $50.

Not bad for a SAHM. Good luck to you!

I was wondering is there a video I can watch about taking questions and adding the source? I am afraid to fail the test and I want to be prepared. I don't really know what to expect. I read the entire guide though.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Oh and is it true that if I take the simulator test durign the day it will take long to receive the questions?

Congrats! You're still being paid even if you can't get in to see it. Once it's up I usually go back and check though ;)

I started in July, and I thought I was REEAL slow, but last night I was looking at my history and those real tough questions now take 5-6 minutes, and the standard ones about 1:45, with the easy ones at about 35 seconds. So you do get faster once you know what you're doing! (I'm at about 4500 searches right now I think).

I just started at the weekend and did about 420 all together. It definitely gets faster as you go when you get used to the questions. The first time I got a football question, I had no clue (I'm from England and wouldn't know a 1st down from a defensive tackle. I watch the other football), but I was giving stats and such with ease by the end of the day. I have to say I don't really like the ChaCha search page for many things, like address and phone number questions. I always go to yahoo and use the yellow pages there. The formatting can be kept to a minimum after the cut and paste.

I haven't been dinged yet by QC, but I know my sports and weather stuff isn't formatted per standards. Oh well!

How do you know if you got QC feedback (ding)? Is there somewhere on your account to check? Or do they send you a message?

BTW, YES! I was accepted.
I was able to log in a day ahead and start working for pay. So if you have been waiting for a few days to see if you passed the SIM test, you may want to just log in and see if you can work :goodvibes . I started working Sunday Morning and received the email late Sunday night.

I was afraid I messed up the SIM test because of tech problems with the first two questions and a few took me a long time to answer. But I made sure I was very accurate, used complete sentences and checked spelling carefully. I also went ahead and answered 20 questions instead of 10. On the forum it was suggested I answer 15 since I had tech problems with the first two. Hope that helps anyone who is wondering...

Need help! It will not let me download the toolbar that I need to start! I have tried 2 different computers and get the same error.
Any advice???

Hmmm. Well it seems I had all those things (score & current status). I didn't include an extra fact, but that isn't what the guy asked. I guess I disagree a little with all this stuff. The guy just wanted the score! He doesn't care if its in complete sentences, etc.

Maggie

What error are you getting?
Are you using Firefox?
Have you downloaded Adobe Flash for Firefox??

The only comment I add is if it shows the last action below the score. Mine were something like

Dallas 7, Chicago 0 4Q 1st down Bailey ran 3 yards.

No idea how it shows up on the phone.

What's the error say?

Any tips, tricks, or ad-ons you all can share? I've been scouring the forums for better/easier ways.

Paul, I'm shocked you got up to speed so fast and answered so many this weekend! :cool2: How did you do it? Were you on all the time? Or are you just that good?? ;)

Re: the $12 bonus for 120 questions...I was reading the blog and foums, looking for this info and couldn't find it. I saw it posted on particular days, but how do you know the bonus is available other days and when? Is it supposed to be every weekend? Yesterday, I just saw an announcement of contests throughout the day, but nothing about the $12. Is there a central place they post all the money-making scenarios? :confused3
