Hi,I know this is OT but I really am stressed about this.I sold some leftover park hoppers on ebay.I shipped them prioroty mail(no insurance) to the buyer. There was only about 6 days between the time she paid me and her departure date.Well the tix never made it to her and she had to buy passes at Disney.Somehow she found out that they had been delivered to the wrong post office and were being returned to sender(me). That was 8 days ago and still no tickets and no info as far as tracking from the USPS website.I know it is technically not my responsibility but I do feel bad that this happened and would lile to refund her $(I can always resell them on ebay)Has anyone ever reported lost mail to the post office? How long did it take to get a resolution?Or am I just dreaming that this pkg will be found? Thanks for your help.

was there a delivery confirmation with the priority mail?

Because from the little I have learned unless you can prove that they were shipped they you will have to refund her money.

Can somebody confirm this or have I totally read all the info wrong?

I am dealing with a situation of lost mail myself. It has been almost a month and not a trace. :(

I'm assuming since it's free on line that you used the delivery confirmation? In any case, you usually have to wait 30 days to fill out the lost mail form...however, my post office will usually take the confirmaiton number and put it in their system and get a lot more info than I get on line..so give that a try. If the dc says delivery went to her, you have your answer. If not, then you will jus thave to wait it out.

I just had a lost mail senerio. My husband mailed it off....I had packaged it...well he lost the receipts. I really had no documentation of mailing the items. I looked on the ebay discussion boards and it seems as an honorable seller you should refund the persons money...that is what I did. It was a loss and a learning experience....plus now DH won't be doing any mailing.

How could she have known it went to the wrong place and was being returned to sender??? That makes no sense to me. Never ship without delivery confirmation. I hate to say it but it sounds to me like she is trying to pull one over on you. Did you get a receipt when you sent it out? I hope so... but I would not refund anything until I had the tickets in hand.

I hope that you did ship them with delivery confirmation. It will make tracking the lost mail so much easier. I also hope that you copied the backs of the passes. If they are truly lost and have not been used, then you can still get them replaced in WDW.

I would not refund the money until the passes are located. Even if they were to be delivered to her and then she returned them to you, I would be concerned that they no longer had the same number of days remaining on them. If you were to then resell them, it would be your reputation as a seller that will be compromised.

Sticky situation but a lesson for all of us. I hope it all works out okay for you.

I did send with delivery confirmation and I believe she is telling the truth about not receiving them because when I track them on the website all it says is they were picked up at my po but no delivery info. So,yes I do have proof that I shipped them. And I also do have the#'s off the back!I forgot about that! The only thing is I originally had 6 of these tix,I'm not sure specifically what the #'s on those two tix were, how would I go about getting a replacement from Disney if they truly are lost?TIA:confused:

Well, if you have the information on the back...and they were truly lost Disney is able to cancel the tickets and reissue.

It could be tricky for you as the tickets are not transferable..So, you can't tell disney that you sold them...and your not sure which ones have been used....

I would wait a while longer to see if they show up...

Then how does the woman know they were delivered to someone else if no tracking information was entered when it was delivered to the wrong address?

Sounds kind of fishy to me. It's too bad you didn't write down the numbers because she could be pulling a fast one on you. She could very well have gotten the tickets, noticed the delivery conf. wasn't scanned in when delivered and did a switcheroo sending you back bogus tickets. I know...sounds far fetched, but I have heard some pretty awful things about sales on ebay, so nothing surprises me anymore!

I am dealing with the same sort of situation with ebay. I bought only about $20+ of stuff from a relatively new seller (about 12 positive feedbacks). He refused to offer shipping insurance and said he mailed it the next day parcel post, USPS. He swears he mailed it (this was almost 3 weeks ago, from Colorado to Oregon) and I'm not sure what to do. I made 6 purchases that week off ebay and all of the other ones came within a week. I noticed on his new things up for auciton he states, "Not responsible for items lost in the mail." I can udnerstand that, but people who do that should offer insurance or tracking, you know? I wrote him the other day that if it doesn't show up in a week, I would like a refund. He hasn't answered me back. Since I paid with paypal, will they refund my money? :( He had received 2 more feedbacks since I purchased from him, both positive. I'm holding out hope, but I just didn't think things got truly "lost" in the mail anymore!

I would log into your paypal account and start the complaint process against this seller. You only have 30 days from the date you paid to get your money back and if the seller can't prove via online delivery confirmation that the item was in fact sent, paypal will rule in your favor. I would do it tonight!!!

Thanks for the quick reply summerrluvv; my only concern is this- I bought this for my daughter and had it shipped to her house as a gift. Since it was listed as an "unconfirmed" address, will ebay/paypal still honor it? If she doesn't get the package by Monday or Tuesday I will file the complaint (it will be 3 weeks on Tuesday that I paid for it).

Yes paypal will honor it. The seller isn't supposed to send to an unconfirmed address, so even if he does have proof of mailing, paypal would disregard it and rule in your favor.

Great---thanks so much for your help! I still hope it shows up though...

I use DC on my ebay packages-- I have still had buyers email me and tell me they didn't receive their items and want their money back-- when the usps.com site shows delivery of their item to them!! Usually once I point this out to them, I never hear from them again. This happens on the average of once a month!!!

I wouldn't do anything until you check w/ your post office and w/ Disney.

I don't think it is fair to charge back when you requested it to be delievered to an unconfirmed address!!! If someone did that to me I would surely leave negative feedback.

Well if the seller doesn't have ANY sort of proof he mailed it. I mean c'mon...delivery confirmation is FREE With priority mail, or he could've chalked up .55, but he has NOTHING.

You are assuming this person had a scale and printed it from home. Delivery confirmation is not FREE when taken the PO for priority...you have to pay the .55. But to contact paypal on the 'basis' of delivering to an unconfirmed address when you requested it is wrong. If the person is a new seller he/she may not even be aware of paypal requiring some sort of delivery confirmation for buyers protection....I certainly didn't at first.

Regardless of whether the seller knows or not, regardless of whether it was a confirmed address or not...the seller refused to allow the buyer to purchase insurance, which reeks "fishy" and the buyer has not received the merchandise so I am all for requesting a refund through paypal. Sorry you don't agree :)
