We pay roughly $2160 a year to fully cover 2 cars. (2009 Cobalt, 2002 Saturn.)

DD16 isn't driving yet, I'm scared to see what it will be then!

$2100 per year for full coverage for two cars and two drivers. Our cars are 2007 and 2008 models but I still think that is rather high and I'm planning to do some insurance shopping in March/April when the year is up. I know I can shop now, but I just don't feel like it!

I really think there are a lot of factors that determine the cost of insurance (location, drivers' age/record, make/model of car...) but we pay about $1200 a year for 2 (newish) cars and 2 adult drivers.

This is going to vary widely depending on where you live, who drives in the house, type and year of car, past accidents, company you insure with, deductible and how many policies with that company etc etc. We just got our bill on an 07 corolla, live in a rural area, only have 2 adults till DS gets his license then were told to expect to pay 3 times as much, have multiple policy discount, no accidents or claims for $620 a year full coverage on one car.

Not sure honestly how it breaks down between renters/car insurance but we have full coverage on 2 cars one a 04, one a 2010 and we are paying approx $1400 a year for renters and car insurance. We live in a rural area and are 27 and 33.

We switched to MetLife from Allstate 2 years ago. We hadn't planned to switch but I filled out something online that I thought was a mistake at the time and received some insurance quotes. The Metlife one made me email the agent and ask what the homeowner's rate was also. Even though we had been with Allstate for more than 10 years, I switched because they saved me about $700 per year on both car and homeowners. I did give Allstate a chance to meet the new quote and all they lowered their current rates (at that time) was $30...hmmm...no contest.

Also, in many cases/places, your credit score will have an effect on rates.

We live in a north Texas suburb and have complete coverage (w/tow, rental & $500 deductible) on our 2005 and 2003 cars - $700 every six months with USAA

Most definitely. It costs me the same to insure my 2003 VW Jetta full coverage than it did to insure my 1994 Honda Civic with liability only.

Safety features and ratings on the car makes a big difference.

About $1200/year full coverage 2 adult drivers, 2003 VW Jetta turbo and 2006 Mazda Tribute AWD.

We pay approximately $2500 a year for full coverage for 2 cars and 2 drivers. A 2010 Ford Edge and a 2006 Volvo S60.

I try not to think of it as an expense since it's a necessity!

USAA here, too - costs me around $880 a year to cover two vehicles in St. Louis (2003 Mazda Tribute and a late 90's Chevy Cavalier). Full coverage on the Mazda - liability only on the Chevy.
