I think I killed my car. After 218,000 miles, my poor baby died. It would costs about $6000 to get it repaired. Car is only worth about $2000. As much as I hate car payments and it was not planned for I am looking for a new to me car.

I am looking at a Jeep Liberty or Jeep Commander. Probably 2007 or 2008. Has anyone brought one? How do you like it? How does it drive? Is it in the shop a lot? I do know that there was some issues with the back window regulator on the 2006 but those seems to have been repaired?

I have looked at other SUV's and those are the two that I am leaning towards.

We actually have both. We have a 2006 Liberty and a 2009 Commander and love them both. The commander has a lot more room, with the 3rd row seating. So far we have had no trouble with either one, knock on wood :goodvibes

We get a lot of snow here in the winter and they both drive great in the snow. The liberty is 4WD though so we tend to use that more in the snow.

If you any any specific questions, just ask :thumbsup2

OMG...do NOT get the Jeep Commander!!!!! WE bought a certified used 2007 in Oct. 2009. Just 2 months ago at 43,000 the engine blew. Cost $6000 to replace engine. Had no choice but to fix it cause we still had a year of payments on it. I know it was just bad luck but it really killed our savings. Next time we will buy an extended warranty...big lesson learned!

I was just in the market for a gently used SUV. I looked at the Jeep Liberty, but ended up getting a great deal on an Acura MDX instead. So far I love my MDX!!

I have a 2009 Liberty...bought it new. LOVE IT. haven't had a lick of trouble with it. Fun to drive.

From my experience, I would say to avoid Jeep products, and Chrysler Corp vehicles at all costs. Honda, Nissan, and Toyota are far more dependable and trustworthy.

I have a 2005 Liberty that I bought in November of 2004. Still going strong with no issues. My mom has a 2004 Liberty and had an issue with something electrical going out a few years ago that impacted the door locks/windows. No other issues. I love my Liberty but I don't love the gas mileage.

Have a 2006 Jeep Liberty bought used in 2008. We had a problems with the pwer windows, the control in the door failed and the windows wouldn't stay up. Have had 2 repalced by Jeep so far.

The gas mileage is pretty bad but it is a comfortable car to ride in.

I just traded in my 2002 Jeep Liberty. I bought it new and owned it for almost 10 years. LOVED it. It gave a good ride and handled great in snow. I kept up with the maintenance on it and it returned the favor by not having any major mechanical breakdowns.

My only negative on the Jeep is that it lacks storage space. The rear cargo area is good for grocery store runs, but not so much for the Home Depot runs.......

My father-in-law and I both bought a Liberty in 2005. He bought a gasoline one and I bought the diesel. His was in the shop once for the air conditioning after 3 years and mine on the other hand was in the shop about 30 times. I kept having issues with my turbo and glow plugs. Jeep never really mastered a diesel engine. After trying three different dealerships, I finally found someone who fixed it. No wonder they only made diesel two years. I did also had the air conditioning fail after five years and the driver window get stuck once.

I loved the ride and the 4 wheel drive but would I buy another one? Probably not. I wasn't very happy with the way Jeep handled my problem.
If I wanted another small SUV I would buy the Ford Escape or the Honda Pilot.
I had an Escape for six years with NO issues. I also have many friends who love their Pilot.
