OT - Anyone been to Jelly Rolls lately?

We are leaving for WDW in 2 days and we love to go to Jelly Rolls. I checked the website the guys hav to see who was playing each night and I noticed the name Pete in the schedule. There was a Pete a few years ago who was from Pittsburg but left JR. I am wondering if it is him and he is back or just a new guy.

SO... anyone been there in the past few weeks and did a guy Pete play? He has redish-brown hair, tall and is an amazing piano player.

I already posted this on the Comm Board and no answer so I thought to check here. I hope it doesn't get moved.

I went there right after the Superbowl, but it was Scotty, Ray, Tommy and Jason that night. Hopefully it'll be the Pete you know!!!

Hi, we are also huge Jellyrolls fans, and we remember that Pete you speak of VERY well! Anyway, I saw on a Jellrolls board that Tommy says it is a NEW Pete. Sorry, I was very hopeful too!

My BF and I are heading down in May, and I know he will LOVE Jelly Rolls! Does anyone know what time it closes at? I'm thinking it may be a good thing for he and I to do on our first night (depending on how late a start we are thinking about getting the next day!)

I believe last call is around 1:15 and they try and start getting people out around 1:30. What night are you planning to go - just to let you know Tues. night is CM night and it can get really rowdy!!! If you haven't been it's a great time!!!

sorry Colleen, this is the only place left on Disney property that you can still smoke (as far as I know!)

They do not serve food and are therefore exempt from the new law.

Thanks for the info; that is what I feared. No way I can hang out in a smoky room. I think the "bar" at Riverside, where they have a great piano man, is smoke-free. I'll have to hang out there for now!

Oh no. I really wanted to go to Jelly Rolls next trip. I'm allergic to smoke so I guess that means I can cross this place off the list of Must Dos this trip. Is there a cover charge to get in? I might take a chance and visit for a little while and then leave if it gets too bad or my allergies start up, but I'd hate to pay a cover charge and then have to leave shortly after walking in.

Colleen, where's the Riverside place you mentioned that is smoke free? I thought most places had banned smoking these days?

There is a small lounge at Riverside, in the lobby near the sit-down restaurant. For years the same piano plyer has been there and he is extremely popular. I think he still plays there nowadays. I imagine the lounge would have to be smoke-free as it is open to the lobby in some areas. I think it's called River Roost or something like that. I believe you could call and ask when "Bob" is playing. We've stayed at Riverside many times but never caught this act, but this guy has quite the following! I just figured it would be a nice, smoke-free alterative to Jelly Rolls.

PS, regarding the smoking ordinance... In our county in Indiana, which went non-smoking over a year ago, the only places exempt were bars that only allowed in people over 21, and could show proof that their primary income was from alcohol and not food, ie, REAL bars and not "restaurant bars." In January our county finally phased out ALL public smoking, even in the bars. Florida's law must be similar and Jellyrolls is in that "loophole."
