OT: AG Felicity being archived

Felicity was my DD's second AM Girl doll...right after Samantha. She got Elizabeth the first year she came out. She was a huge fan of the Felicity DVD and used to watch the movie over and over again changing the dolls outfits as they changed in the movie. So we have ALL the clothing and the horse. I don't buy the furniture, so the only thing DD still wants for Felicity is Patriot the horse. I may pick that up this week before it sells out.

BTW, my DD gets excited when they retire dolls that she has including the girls of the year dolls because that means that no one else can buy them. She thinks it makes her special!

My daughter thinks the same thing! :lmao:

Yes, I heard about the archival last week. My daughter was upset that she missed out on Samantha and Kirsten's archival so I immediately went online and bought the Best Friends collection that includes Felicity/Elizabeth and their accessories and both F and E's Holiday gowns. We did end up going to AGPC a few days later and she picked up Felicity's tea dress and since Elizabeth's tea dress was already on backorder I decided to make yet another order for that :rolleyes1 And I'm still contemplating Elizabath's riding outfit which she loves and Elizabeth's nightgown. Plus, she still needs a few of Lanie's things before they're gone :upsidedow

American Girl sure is a budget buster!

I didn't get the e-mail, I guess I haven't bought anything from AG in so long I'm off the list!

I'm sorry to see Felicity go, I have one of the original ones from the early '90s. There's only a few outfits of hers still sold by AG that I want, I'll have to see about picking those up before they sell out. I am glad they aren't archiving Molly though - there was so much speculation that she'd be the next to go, since she's the last of the original 3 dolls left. Molly was my first AG, & there's more of her things left that I still need to get!

It is really sad to see AG decimating the historical line the way they are. I guess the modern dolls bring in a lot more money now, but the historical dolls are the heart of the company as it originally was. Hopefully they'll release a new historical doll soon to replace the ones being archived, as they released Rebecca soon after Samantha was archived.

Yes, it was rumored the next historical would be one living during the Gold Rush....but I guess we will have to wait and see. I'd like a 50's doll, I'd probably want it more than DD would :lmao: but I think the 50's doll won't come out til Molly is archived.
A doll from the 1980's would be pretty entertaining :rolleyes1

Oooh, she could have acid-washed jeans, rainbow suspenders, and cockatoo bangs! :thumbsup2

This isn't the first time they have archived Felicity, they archived her like back in 2003 or so when I was way into American Girl dolls then brought her back when
they created her movie. So no guarentees but she may be back they said she would be gone for good last time but not so much I don't pay enough close attention to the dolls now adays considering the fact I'm 16 and would rather have a car than a doll but if history repeats itself the doll could very likely be back in a year or 2 this is just a way for AG to make easy money.

do you know if you are able to get online with qvc for the AG special? I am working that day and won't be able to watch it?

This is the first year my daughter has asked for one for xmas and want to see their specials before ordering online.

Last year they had them on line, hopefully they will do it again this year.

If they keep archiving their girls who will be left to sell?

I agree! I like the historicals much more than the GoTY and the Just like me line. Its amazing that DD is only 5 and could sit through (well of course half a chapter a nite) the Kit books. She was really into them, of course I don't think she really understood 100% what was going on in history, just knew Kit was poor and had to make sacrifices. The best though was when I got DD the typewriter lol, everyone in my family played with that thing. :lmao:

I haven't been in to AG for years, but how sad!!!! I can't believe they would just archive the dolls like that.
