Ok..In my attempt to pay off my Disney trip, I listed our treadmill that we don't use anymore on ebay and offered local pickup only.

I had a guy make an offer that I accepted. He made a plan to come pick it up the Saturday after he bought it. We moved it out of the garage to make it easier for him to move it, then he emailed me 20 mins after he was supposed to come get it that he couldn't come that day. He's coming from 3 hours away. Then he emailed me and asked if he could come during the week, I told him that was fine. He emailed and asked about a specific day and time I told him that was fine. I haven't heard anything from him since. He won't respond to my messages and it's been almost 2 weeks since he made the offer and it was accepted on ebay. He was to bring cash with him when he came. He's got 100% positive feedback, so I don't know what's going on. I got tacked almost 15.00 in ebay fees for something that's still sitting in my garage.

How long should I wait before I report him as a non paying bidder so I can relist the treadmill and get my ebay fees returned? What would you do?

I would re-list it. Sounds like he's no longer interested. I would also not allow cash only as an option on Ebay. I didn't even realize you could do that on there. Or try selling it on Craigslist so you're not out any more fee's.

File a non paying bidder alert - he will get the email from Ebay. Give him a couple of days and if he does not pay you will get your fees back - you have to wait a few days to close the case but you will not lose the fees. Perfect feedback as a buyer does not mean a thing since sellers cannot leave negative feedback (a totally insane move on Ebay's part).

Such a big item I would list on Craiglist. If you decide to relist on Ebay and it is a pick up - take cash or a postal money order. If he pays with Paypal he can dispute it as never having received the item (you would not have the tracking info required to dispute such a claim since it was a p/u).

If you are doing local pick up for an ebay item, cash is the only way to go. If you accept paypal for it, you have no proof of delivery and the buyer easily gets their money back from paypal.

Of course he's got 100% positive feedback - sellers can't leave buyer negative feedback, so how could he have anything less than 100%?

Report it now. He's got 4 days to pay after you start the non-paying bidder process.

Hmm..interesting! I would totally stay away from Ebay then, especially since if they are a no show you out the fee's. I've never done a local pick up on Ebay so I had no idea.

You are not out the fees. By file a non paying bidder alert you let Ebay know the buyer has not paid. After a few days you close the case and get your fees back.

I'm going off the OP stating she was out $15 in Ebay fee's so far. Like I said, I have never used Ebay for local shopping, Craigslist is free so it works for us for buying/selling locally. I was commenting on the OP's situation.

This is so weird and wrong. I read that sellers are filing class action suits against ebay as it's totally one sided. Not the place for sellers!!!

I would notify ebay, and then sell it on craigslist. I quit selling on ebay as the fees are to expensive.

As an ebay seller here is what you do. Use the "Report a bidder" option under the item page, the bidder has 4 days to pay, If he does not pay then you "close the case", then you get your seller's fee credited to you. Then you can relist or do what ever. After so many "non paying bidder" cases the bidders do get banned.
