Alright folks, my dd really wants to see Oso and Manny. Are they available to meet any place besides Hollywood and Vine? I'm not opposed to going to the character meal except I hear sooo many negative things about the food. We would go for breakfast and I feel it's hard to mess up breakfast food..but it can be done.

So, are they elsewhere?
Are my food fears uncalled for?

I frequent the boards and it seems that most places get a fair share of good and bad reviews. Hollywood and Vine seems to really take a beating though.

Annnnnd this can all be ignored. DD just saw a pic of Oso at Hollywood and Vine and hid behind me. He's a little bigger in person than on TV. LoL. She loves most characters in person....but alas..poor Oso.

Hollywood & Vine's breakfast is great. The food was very good and a nice variety. Lunch and dinner are a different story..... And the character interaction is really fun! We saw Handy Manny outside of the Animation Building at Hollywood Studios, but did not see Oso.

Check out my review -- I have a video of the characters dancing at breakfast.

My Hollywood & Vine Breakfast Review

Well I had little ones that were IN LOVE with Little Einsteins & Jojo. So we did Hollywood & Vine...god help us. The screaming kid factor did me in. You expect a certain amount from ANY character meal, but this was off the chain for me.

I will say that we were able to find Little Einsteins in DHS, so I would imagine the same would be true for Oso and Handy Manny...I believe they were in the little trailers along the "back streets" Also outside of Playhouse Disney.

Just in case your DD changes her mind (because Oso is not imposing in person, but so fluffy and cute, I promise. My youngest, usually leery of "too big" characters - Goofy FREAKS him out - loved him), I will answer. :) H&V's breakfast is fine. Not great, but perfectly fine. The character experience is a really good one though so that keeps us coming back.

This was the most laid back character meal we had all week and I enjoyed it. I'm really not a "breakfast food" person, so I enjoyed that there were cold foods & cereal with milk on the buffet. It took a while to see all of the characters, but it wasn't a problem.

We met Manny back by Play House Disney there was also the Einsteins on our trip this January.

We have done this breakfast every year for the past five because all of my kids love the playhouse disney (or disney junior) characters. We think it's great! The kids get to get pics and siggies from them, but also get to hang out and dance with them as well. You don't get that too much at Disney unless you go to a special event.

As far as the breakfast goes, it doesn't seem too different from Chef Mickey's breakfast, imo, just maybe a bit less variety. But overall a decent experience.

I would imagine breakfast food would be fine -- how can you screw up waffles and eggs and bacon???? :confused3
We did lunch there and the food was fine for us (not GREAT, just 'ok'), but I can see how pickier people might not think so. It was kind of like cafeteria food.

We did this breakfast for my DGS (2 1/2) in February. He's a little timid around the characters. It was the hit of the trip. Character interaction was good and low key, especially since he chose to watch rather than participate in the dancing segments. Breakfast was perfectly fine - typical breakfast fare, not cold, good variety. We would do it again. :thumbsup2

Because H&V is usually not too crowded, you get the most leisurely character experience of any restaurant. The characters will spend more time with you than any place else, plus they have the dancing segments. We had breakfast there last year, and it was comparable to the other breakfast buffets. I like the food there better than Chef Mickey's, but not as much as at Cape May or 1900 Park Faire.

Very true for us. In 2009, we had lunch about 11:30 and in 2010 at 9am after the 8-9 morning magic hour. Both times restaurant was no where near full. DS dance with Oso almost the whole time we were there!

We have done H & V twice for breakfast but with the old characters. I didn't find the food here any better or worse than any other breakfast buffet we did. I thought we'd be giving it a miss this time as my girls are older now. But I think Oso might convince them.
