Was anyone else a fan of the Osmonds in the '60's and '70's?

Or maybe you just know Donny as the singing voice in Mulan.

Either way I thought you might want to know that Mother Osmond is very close to going home to her heavenly father. The following website has been set up in her memory.

www.oliveosmond.com

I have great admiration for this woman who raised 8 sons and 1 daughter to be wholesome upstanding citizens during a crazy time in the world.

Updated 5/10 - Mother Osmond went home to her heavenly father yesterday - on Mother's Day. Here is a link to the memorial page for her - a very beautful one. Mother Osmond

Oh God yes. I remember staring at the My Best to You album cover for hours - with Donny in his American flag bell bottoms - and just wishing that he would come to life and be sitting in my living room.:p

I've been a fan since the 70's. I also collect Marie's dolls.

Many prayers for the family during this difficult time.

thanks for the update.
I was a huge fan!

I was a big fan for years. Sad to know that she is so close to passing, but like them, I know families stay together forever and death is never "good bye" but "see you later".

I had the Donny and Marie Barbies back in the day! I even had Marie perfume!

I'm an Osmond fan also and have been following the situation with Mother Osmond. What a remarkable and special lady she is.

My favorite memory of her is meeting the family in Sarasota, FL back in the 70's. I made cookies for them and gave them to Mother Osmond in a cookie tin. About a week later I saw them again in Sunrise, FL and she was carrying the tin. I was so excited and said "I gave you that!!" She told me she was keeping recipes in it now. That made me so happy!

Prayers for the family during this difficult time.

Oh, and I still have the D&M dolls and the Marie perfume bottles (empty) downstairs in my basement! (I can't believe I just admitted that!!) My DD and I collect Marie's porcelain dolls too.

I didn't know about the Osmond mother. That is too bad. I was a huge fan of Donny and Marie and watched their show all the time. I had the dolls too. I even had the Jimmy Osmond doll. My father was on a cruise last year and Jimmy was performing. He met him after the show and took a photo with him and got his autograph for me.

very sad news but ...what a tribute to a wonderful woman...what more could you ask for than a loving wonderful family...

Liz...very cute story about the tin! That is really awesome!

OMGoodness, I just visited the site and that brought a tear to my eye!
What a sweet family...

This is very sad news. I'm glad to know her family is with her. I don't know how she did it. I barely keep it together for a family 1/3 the size of hers. As others have expressed, she will see her loved ones again. This separation is only temporary.

How sad. :( I remember reading about her in Tiger Beat, such a long time ago. The kids got their good looks from her. I'm sorry to hear that she is so ill.

Thank you for posting this as I had been wondering how she had been doing. Didn't she have a stroke or something a while back? I remember back then she was still posting on their web site.

Now if that woman doesn't get a pass to get straight into heaven then I don't know who else would! :)

Thanks for posting! I am a huge Osmond fan. I just received my birthday card from Donny this week! (from Donny.com). I have been praying for Mother Osmond for a long time now. My prayers are with all the Osmonds as they go through this difficult time. I'm off to check out the website.

She had a stroke back in 2001 and from what I hear has been pretty much bed-ridden since then. That part alone must be very hard on a woman who was very active and on the go as much as she was. I can't begin to understand how it is to raise a family of 9, but to do a great part of it while touring the world - wow!

I too am a huge fan. I will certainly be praying for the family.....P

Mother Osmond passed away at 4:40 this morning (Mothers day).
:(

Giving this a bump back up for the update.

My prayers are with the Osmond family today.

Thanks Liz - i didn't see your update and just found out myself.
