I know it's early, but we're in the process of planning our Christmas WDW trip! LOL! We're a little anxious!

Last time we went to WDW in December, we skipped Fantasmic (we had just seen it the year before) and walked through the Osbourne lights instead. For our next trip, it will be my mom's first trip in years and our DS's first trip so we definitely want to do both. Is it possible to do a 7:00 Fantasmic and do the Osbourne lights afterwards when the park closes at 8:00? OR...will the crowds be light enough to do Osbourne lights before Fantasmic? We're going the week before Christmas and plan on doing MGM on Sunday, December 18th. We were debating about the Fantasmic dinner package, but last time we went (March 2003) we got great seats w/o it and I don't think we waited all that long.

Thanks so much!!

Oh I love that Fantasmic Dinner Package too...we did it for the first time this past Oct.IMO it's a great deal and I believe it's only 15-20 minutes prior to Fanatasmic starting that you have to be there...great for us as I hate waiting!!! :earboy2: OY! lol!

Anyway I'd check out Osbourne lights before Fantasmic if it were me.It will be getting dark early. If you got your package for Mama Melrose's you'd be right back there where the lights are now. I'd allow at least 15 minutes time from when you're finished looking at the lights until you need to be seated for Fantasmic as it's a bit of a walk from the NY street scene to the Fantasmic theater.

We were just there and they didn't turn the lights on early enough to view the Osborne Lights before Fantasmic (even with the dinner package). We went to Fantasmic then walked over to the line for Osborne Lights. The line was very long (1/2 way around the park) but moved very quickly. We were walking at a very brisk pace and were to the lights in about 5-7 minutes once we were in the line. We also didn't have a wait for a bus back to POFQ.

We were there Dec. 21st and had the Fantasmic package. Our group was "supposed" to walk around the Osborne lights after the 7 o'clock Fantasmic. We had 4:10 dinner ressies.

My DSis and DM were tired and went to walk around the lights before Fantasmic. Granted, it was the shortest day of the year, but the pictures she took are wonderful. At first you can see the sky with early stars and the Christmas lights on the buildings.

So, some of us did the lights before Fantasmic and it worked out for them.

Bobbi :D

Granted, this was the first week of December, but we grabbed a Fast Pass for Tower of Terror, saw Fantasmic at 7, rode ToT, and still got to see the Osbourne lights before the 8:30 closing. As of 8:25, they were still letting people in. Not sure what they did after that, if they let the people in until 8:30 or just shut off the lights then. By doing this, we were able to not only get an extra ride, but also got to see the lights without the crowds from Fantasmic.

When we went this past Dec...We sae Fantasmic then took our time to get to Osbourne....we used the restroom and had about 45 minutes to kill then we entered Osbourne around 7:55 a few minutes before park closin we walked right in and was not crowded at all....make sure you check out the building windows...they each have displays inside....they will not stop you as long as you enter before prk closing and they keep them on for a while after...we got to our car at 9:15 parked closed at 8 still people inside...

Thanks so much everyone! DH said we could probably do it after Fantasmic...that they wouldn't just shut off the lights at 8:00pm when the park closes. Guess he told me so!
