I know they start early in nov. but how long do they go into january? I have a friend thinking of going in Jan and I had no idea! anyone know how long after new years they keep the christams decor up at MK? the osborne lights? thanks!

For the O-Lights, it can depend on how the dates fall in relation to the weekend(s.)
Figure their last night will be sometime in the first week of January.

The MK decorations and castle "Frozen" Lights will likely be continued nightly until around Jan. 10 to coincide with the WDW marathon that's held in early January.

To add my 2 cents: seeing them after Christmas is the way to go. In my experience, the crowds slow down after the holiday especially following New Years. If I had to pick one day to attend, it would be the last few days that the lights are up!
