Orlando Vista Hotel?

Is this a nice hotel? The price seems too good to be true for a place so near DTD. Is it close to the entrance of the Marketplace? Any opinions on this hotel would be greatly appreciated.

I have enjoyed DISboards for years, & just registered so I could tell everyone about this hotel. We just returned from a 6 night stay at Orlando Vista, was $49 (cheap) prepaid through H*Wire. Decor is old, hallways smell musty, people were smoking so halls stunk, etc. Au Bon Pain is NOT a restaurant - it has coffee, bagels, pizza...not even open all day. If you sit in the bar, then you are sitting in the lobby. Pool surface very rough - DH & DS have many knee/foot scratches, & DS has big scrape on back of head from splashing in the shallow end! And the room...paid for upgrade to Kidsuite (2 small bunks,
3rd small bed, another TV, micro & 'fridge). The closet doors were broken, kids' dresser drawer broken (unusable), king sheets folded under blankets(beds not made on small beds), toilet wouldn't flush TP or #2s. UGH.

But the worst thing? I discovered while at MK on the 4th day that the hotel was CHARGING my MC hundreds of $$! Our cash & other MC were back in our room, & my MC wouldn't go through b/c of suspicious activity (bank didn't know we weren't in CT & didn't like the 5 charges received from Orlando Vista for $360.) Our day was ruined - had to go back to hotel for more $$. Front desk & manager argued that they weren't charging us, then they finally called the bank to un-authorize the $$ on 5th day - all without admitting to us who HAD authorized this. And the final charge on our check-out: $30 a day upgrade plus tax, minus 2 nights for the inconvenience.

Left a TERRIBLE impression on us, IMHO should have stayed elsewhere. Will never H*Wire again so as not to end up here. Hope this helps someone else!

Thats awful! I was debating between the orlando vista and the Best Western Lake Buena Vista and settled on the BW LBV and I decided on that based on it was closer to DTD............

Thank you for sharing your experience. The credit card problem is horrible, that would make me so upset.

Today (Tuesday) I called my bank to check the account, & found that the hotel has tried twice to put a hold on another $85 on my card, after checkout last Saturday. AARRGGHH! I closed the account & will receive a new MC soon, & the 2 hold charges will be disputed.

Next time we head to WDW we'll get one of those pre-paid Visas from AAA. I hope that will forestall someone trying to access our credit.

Hopefully this was just an isolated problem. This is supposed to be a Disney Good Neighbor hotel, whatever that means. It is in a great location, close to DTD, Walmart, restaurants & shopping. Just can't believe the CC disaster!
