Hi everyone, we are headed to WDW the 2nd week of November and have a wedding at South Beach Miami the following weekend so we'll probably head down at the end of the week to lay on the beach at least once. We will be coming into Orlando and leaving from Miami so I only need one way. Trouble is the one way cars seem very $$$ for a few days so I thought I'd check here for possible travel alternatives. does anyone have any ideas.

PS if anyone can recommend a decent place to stay in the area that would be helpful too. Boy is this going to be an expensive wedding, happy but $$$

We do this trip once a year. We also rent a car. I've looked into Amtrack, but getting to the stations both on both side require time and cab money. So, we just bite the bullet and rent the car. Have you considered just doing the one day rental. I find that when I'm in SoBe, we don't even use the car. So that can cut your expenses a bit.

Who are you travelling with? Where is the wedding? I can make a few hotel suggestions with some more info. :goodvibes

By far the easiest thing to do is book a rental car. Book one now that can be canceled and once a month do a new search, rebooking as you find lower and lower rates. Rates are highly likely to drop over time. Use a search engine such as Expedia, Travelocity or Orbitz so that you can view numerous rental companies at one time. Be sure to input any discount codes you're entitled to.

For most rental companies there are no drop charges within Florida so a one-way rental should not be that expensive. You're well before Thanksgiving so rates should drop from where they are now.

Kingbobofthenorth (cool name BTW) I'll start booking now and see what I can come up with, I hope you are right and the rates drop because right now they seem really high.

Cindy's Mom, I'm not positive where the wedding will be, we don't have an invitation just the weekend and a nod that it's somewhere glamorous in South Beach, I don't doubt it. I don't have a hotel lined up but I think I'd like to be on the beach for the kids, but being in a city, even a glamorous one, makes me think safety is important so a doorman is probably on my list of must haves. Any suggestions would be great.

Thank you both for your responses.
