Orlando Ticket Club vs Undercover Tourist

They look and feel like paper but they are not paper.

People keep saying this, and they do not feel like paper to me at all. I finally dug an old ticket out and handed it to hubby and asked him if it felt like paper. Which he said it did, and when I said it felt like plastic, he said, "Well, it feels like treated paper." Not only doesn't it feel like paper to me, it flexes very differently. Clearly some synthetic material. But maybe not everyone fiddles with their ticket while in line the way I do? :upsidedow

I'm sorry you didn't see the earlier post where a current ticketing CM said they aren't an authorized ticket re-seller. That right there would have stopped me in my tracks, regardless of what people on ebay say.

That, and the fact that the Undercover Tourist price is cheaper. ;)

Jeff, Apology accepted. I can see why you thought it was suspicious, but the truth is, as I've said, I've been tracking this merchant. So, right before I made my purchase, I Googled OTC to see if there were any random complaints that were out there. This thread showed up and I read the skeptical comments. Since I didn't realize that most of the posters here were UT loyalists, I just thought I would share the benefit of my research. You never know, maybe this merchants business practices aren't any different than UT? I would like to thank the posters who clued me in about UT. Maybe I will use them in the future. BTW, WooHOO - less than thirty days now and we are so excited!!!

I bought my tickets through OTC a couple of months ago. They arrived in the mail and looked exactly like the tickets I have bought from UT in the past. Now as I read this thread I am thinking what have I done?? Is there a way of validating these tickets before I get to the park? We are arriving in Disney on Sunday and it would be most unfortunate to be turned away at the gates with my three children and 3 nephews!

Based on the ebay feedback you should be ok I would think. Not much you can do about it now.

Melissa, I wouldn't worry. I buy on Ebay alot and I'm confident about this merchant. You don't get a best-seller blue ribbon on there unless you're legit.
Have a great time.

We just went in NOV and used UT. They were great shipped when they said they would and everything. I could have picked them up if we wanted but thought it was easier to just have them when we got there.

This other place looks ok i have seen them posted on Craigslist in different cities. They may be just fine but when the price is the same or just a few $ why mess with it just do UT and know you are taken care of. The only thing cheaper is we were offered a free day or 2 if we did a time share meeting. But we had every day planned while we were there and i didnt have a day to just go do time share plus i hate them. We did one one time way back and it was such high pressure sales and everything i swore never again. BUt if you really need cheap tickets and can afford a day to do the time share then i guess get a free day.

Otherwise i say UT they were good maybe not the cheapest i dont know some of the venders up and down I Drive had some cheap prices i know some of them get their tickets from CM who turn in unused tickets they dont want for cash (thats what they said anyway). I am not a loyalist to anyone but when i use a company who comes highly recommended and they treat me well i will use them again i mean why not

nicoleibel- When are you going? I also bought and received tickets from OTC recently and now I am paranoid. We go next weekend (2/4/2012). I called Disney today to see if they can verify the ticket numbers and they said I need to call the ticket office on Monday. They gave me a phone number. I then called PayPal (that's how we paid) and they weren't able to say much about the company due to privacy law, but did say that it appears to be a valid company. I want to kick myself now for not looking into it more.

People have to realize that there are no great discounts for Disney tickets. I know we all want to save as much as possible but Disney does not discount like others do. I suppose we are all used to finding discounted hotel rooms, car rentals, etc. so we expect the same thing with Disney tickets.
For me it's not worth the effort to search for discounts on tickets. $20 bucks is just not that great a discount, if you can get even get it. I put my efforts into the bigger cost items such as air and hotel.

That's definitely not MY opinion. $20 multiplied by simply three of us is well worth using a site like UCT (a known, trustworthy, website that doesn't sell on ebay AND is on the list of authorized sellers). In Dec of '10 we upgraded from our UCT 7 day tickets to DVC APs, and saved a total of $90 vs just buying the DVC APs up front. That was *worth it* to me.

All savings are worth it. I'm about to change a car reservation code to save $6. It's all worth it, it all adds up.

Just gotta make sure you're using a bonafide, Disney-authorized, way to do it, that's all!

It's not so much that the people here are UT loyalists, but that UT gives you the best price of all authorized ticket sellers. Probably most of the people here can tell you stories of people who have been burned by buying tickets from authorized sellers. There are a lot of scammers out there, even ones with some pretty impressive ebay feedback ratings.

Having to drop $1000 on tickets at the gate when you thought your tickets were already taken care of is a terrible way to start a vacation. When people here recommend UT, it isn't because of some "brand loyalty" thing - it's to prevent people from standing at the gate not knowing how they're going to pay for new tickets.

I hope that everything goes smoothly (and I'm sure that it will) and your vacation is a great one!

It's not so much that the DIS is full of UT loyalists; they generally get very good reviews here, but DISers get their tickets from a wide variety of places. Most probably get their tickets direct from Disney, as part of a vacation package.

What you're seeing is the reaction to hearing that OTC is not an authorized seller of Disney tickets. On these boards, we get horror story after horror story about tickets bought from unauthorized dealers. Entire families showing up with tickets they got from eBay or Orlando sellers, only to find that they're not valid.

So we all kind of instinctively recoil and go 'yikes' when we hear that someone's bought tickets from an unauthorized dealer. I know that saving money is tempting, but it's a gamble. For some people, the extra savings is worth rolling the dice, for others, it's just not worth the risk.

I don't recall hearing any reports of OTC ripping anyone off, so we all certainly hope and assume that your tickets are fine. And that you have a great trip. :thumbsup2

I get it!!! So we SHOULD have bought from UT. Ugh. Enough!! Or better yet, I should have just bought from Disney. I don't know why the heck I was concerned with saving $40 or so. But it's too late. I already bought from OTC and have the tickets. Just crossing my fingers that they work when we get there (Disney cannot verify them over the phone at all). If not, hopefully it won't be a problem to get my money back from paypal. And we'll just eat the cost of new tickets when we get there.

I will certainly let you know how it turns out since no one else has! :surfweb:

I've been looking into undercover tourist for tickets but was afraid of using a site I hadn't used before. But after reading all the good things on this discussion I think I have decided to buy from them! :) I have signed up for the newsletter that it says comes out on the fifteenth. Is there anyway someone can forward me one from a previous month. Thanks

THANK YOU Jamieann77 for confirming that OTC tickets are valid!!! I bought tickets from Undercover Tourist before the tickets increased from $254 to $270 for a 5 day non-hopper admission. I need one more ticket and was debating whether I should buy from OTC since they only raised their price to $257. Every little discount adds up....even $13 if I can get it for $257 instead of $270! They are actual tickets and not vouchers where we have to stand in line to exchange the voucher for tickets right? Thanks!!!!

May be a dumb question here from a newcomer, but will ask anyway...

We're planning to go to OKW in February and, being one who can't wait for anything, I was looking to buy tickets ASAP. Looking to go through UT for hopper passes. If I order now (August), do the tickets expire before February? Or do they only expire 14 days after FIRST USE?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks....

After first use.

I just returned from Disney World Resort and used Orlando Ticket Club to buy my four day hopper tickets for me and my two boys. NO PROBLEMS at all. I bought the tickets on a Wednesday and they were delivered First Class insured by Saturday to my home in San Antonio, Texas.

The tickets you receive are of paper with a coated film to protect the ticket. I was asked at Epcot if I wanted to trade my tickets in for a card. I said "sure". I then went to the booth and in 2 minutes they gave me a plastic card. This allows easier access and allows you to grab your fast passes.

The savings was good. Any savings is good. You will never find large savings with Disney passes because Disney sets the price at wholesale and the vendor needs to make some money as well. If you see something TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.......DON'T DO IT!

I found OTC on eBay. First thing I did was to look at their feedback. I was way up there and at 100%. Next thing I did was head over to their website. I noticed that there was a tad bit more savings if I bought through their website. WHY? Because eBay charges a percentage when a seller sells something. Paypal also wants their cut so OTC gives us part of that savings if we buy through their site. Oh and by the way, OTC is a Better Business member with a high percent customer satisfaction rating. Long but just my two cents.

Is there a reason why you made your first post to a thread that hasn't been posted to in a year?

I know this thread is old but its the 1st link that came up on a Google search for Orlando Ticket Club. I did a search bc I wasn't sure I remembered the name correctly (new phone) b4 I passed it along to a friend.

But anywhoo - I used OTC twice now w/ no problems. Received my tickets in the mail & when checked n2 resort they were transferred to my K2tW card. & used PayPal for the cc security issues stated previously.

I've actually used both OTC & UT and would use either of them again. Who I use just depends on which site is providing the best deal for my needs for that trip.
