Orlando Smackdown: Dis vs. Uni. Ch.16 Japan Hates me, Just Hates me 7-13

I knew too!!

I only wish they would have gotten somebody other than Tim Robbins for the lead role

Congrats and Woots for the terrific new jobs! :cool1: Share some of the employment mojo with my hubby, will ya? :upsidedow

Uhoh,, hope things turn around soon for you guys.

Buzz -- I hope Buzzlette is over the croupin' crud (and the rest of the gang too)! and I agree about the movies, I'm a sucker to get drawn in on those too.

I still think Forrest Gump sucked...and so did his other GREAT hit,,, Terminal,, and don't get me started on Joe vs. the spitting mountain...

Pkondz -- unless they've changed recently, there is no food to order at Jellyrolls... only complimentary popcorn to go with your not-inexpensive drinks. So eat a good dinner before you go.
-- that's Fra-GEE-Lay
-- havoc reeks? Kinda like our local minor league hockey team, the Huntsville Havoc. Some seasons are better than others, but reek comes to mind recently. :rolleyes2
-- and YES, you could do a non-Dis TR on the Community Board. Lots of variety over there.

Wow Cindy,, your brain had to be on overload trying to remember all those tidbits... well done!

I totally agree. There is anything from xmas presents from MIL to TV threads and anything in between. You could totally do a report there.

Wait,, who wants to see Milwaukee tv threads? Wasn't Laverne and Shirley bad enough,,,,,,,,,,oh,,,, MIL,,,,mother,,, never mind

I had a fun day yesterday with a flat tire at work.

oh yes,,, nothing says "chuckles" like being stranded in your car. And admit it,,, when you saw it you said,, "Ach, mein Gott!"

AAA came to the rescue within an amazingly short 1 1/2 hours and had to inflate my spare donut which had been peacefully resting in my trunk for the last 10 years. Went to drive out today to get new tires, but the ride felt really bumpy compared to last night, so I decided to wait for hubby to evaluate things tomorrow and may have to call AAA back for help. Gotta love AAA :flower3:

I have been a A cubed member for years,,,never used it and almost dumped it,,,,then came the blow out on 57,,,,then came the Lock out at the Hopisital,,,

Yeesh, look who woke up on the wrong side of the bed

couch this morning and pulled their cranky pants out of the laundry!

nope, still on from last night,, saves time in the morning,,
It sounds as if some of us were thisclose to being thrown into the feed mix as well! ;)

You are there now my little appetizer!

I had the same experience as you and Ruby with Groundhog Day. I was at the beach with my youth group from church, yes I was a teenager then, and our youth minister wanted to see it. I had little patience for it during the first viewing because I was a teenager and more importantly,I was a teenager at the beach for crying out loud! It was the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and so on viewings that sold me on the comedic genius of Groundhog Day.

Comedic genius? oh PUHLEASE! I just threw up in Bildog's mouth too just now reading that.
hmmm,,,, wait,,, that didn't come out quite like I meant. :rotfl2:

And Me! Me! Me! Though I suppose I won't count as a real person either. :sad2:

C'mon Buzz,, You know better than that.
And don't forget you are due for your 1 year oil change at the Stepford shop later this week, is ten o'clock ok?

Agreed. Give him a minute. He'll get a tear in his labrum, be out for the season following hip surgery and rehab --- oh yeah - -- and then he'll start dating a supermodel and/or a B-level movie star. No, wait - maybe that is someone else I'm thinking of -- never mind -- go ahead and talk amongst yourselves .....

Ah,,, took me a second,,,, but Margy-Rod is not happy with the situation way out there.

Oh yeah? Click here.

Must be Italian!!

Oh,,, forgot to click there,,,,, back soon

Okay, I'm convinced. I'll do one if you guys want one.... but I will not be doing a PTR. Just not my thing.

ponzi,,, you are good at this stuff,,,, while you won't get the views on the Community board,,,, there are plenty of people I think that know you now and will gladly follow yhou on the thread over be dere. So lead them to a new adventure!

And sorry I haven 't given your posts over here the attention I should have,,,It's getting a bit hardeer every day to run this computer,,,and I need to work on chapters.

All right. All right! I said I'd do it. Geesh. But if you people don't show up, I'm gonna hold my breath until you do! :snooty:

And sorry I haven 't given your posts over here the attention I should have,,,It's getting a bit hardeer every day to run this computer,,,and I need to work on chapters.

Don't give it a second thought. You write the chapter, I'll break it down, you groan or curse, rinse, lather, repeat.

Pkondz- I'd follow!

Now I'm singing a U2 song, S-W-E-E-T!

Did you all check your calendars???? It's a very SPECIAL day today. You should all have the day off, seriously!

This is the 4th time trying to get this done now. Last week, take 1 and 2 ended up trashed because work got in the way and I forgot to save my stuff to word before closing the window :headache: Take 3, I was having issues with the Dis, and it wasn't letting me copy and paste and I couldn't stay focused for more than a couple of minutes at a time due to allergies and the fog that drifted into my head.

So I'm gonna try to get this in before you post your next chapter...although I should probably be working on my own chapter...This thread is more exciting at the moment. :goodvibes

Let's see now,, it's tuesday,,, our last full day at The Royal Pacific, and we are beginnning it by the pool.

Was I the only one that read that and immediately flashed back to, "If it's Tuesday, This Must be Epcot." ?

Our time there went a lot more peacefully without Cackler, Diane joined me down there only a half hour later, and we just sat mostly in silence, reading or just looking around.

So all this time the Cackler was Diane...???

I had to ask her and yes,,, she had some volacano nachos for breakfast as well,,, yes,, we did get our money's worth out of them.

Nothing wakes you up like cold soggy cheese ladden chips, and jalapenos.

Then we were back up there, changing and having what is probably a "too early Cocktail Hour, ' but , oh well, as they often say,, Schlitz Happens.

This time it was Sunny D's that accompanied us back to the parks,,, only this time we took the launch.

Can't you just hear the song playing in your head;
"Sunny D's, make me feel fine"

What's sad is that i actually just sang it exactly like that in my head. :sad2:

Before we left the room,,I took another out the window shot:

They are going to eventually stop letting you take your gun with you on these trips...

Yes,, if you haven't noticed before,, I'm big on pool pictures,, always have been,,, pool pics just say "vacation" to me, make me happy.

Pool pics are classic vacation shots. Christopher Walken said "More Cowbell" I say "More Pool Pics!"

The gates of entry to the pool all have this big knob at the top,,, the size of a 16 inch softball,,, you must turn this,, while pushing it forward,, with your other hand on the lever underneath,,, while pushing the gate forward as well.
But sometimes you must be Pulling back on the last part,,,depends on which gate you are using and which way you are going. I saw a family of 5 give up and climb over it, Commando style. Granny looked really funny climbing over.

The same mechanism was used at our resort in Orlando. It is not easy to play twister while loaded down with stuff to take with you to said pool. And every time I went to the pool, I always tried to open it the wrong way. Knowing full well I was doing it wrong to begin with.

I like this ride a lot,, I'm still a big kid when it comes to Dinosaurs and when I come across Jurassic Park on tv I end up leaving the channel there, no matter how many times I've seen it.

JP definitely still captures my attention. It's right up there with Apollo 13, in that every time I watch it I end up on the edge of my seat, as if I have never seen the movie before in my life, wondering what is going to happen next.

The River Adventure ride is a combination of Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean,, and Jungle Cruise, without the jokes.
And there is a spitting dino who gets me in the face almost every stinkin time! No kidding,, doesn't matter which side I sit in,,, he gets me.
Wait,,, it couldn't be Smidgy getting me , could it?
Nah.

Same Dino gets me every time too. And usually ends up hitting me directly in the eye because I am hunting for it, knowing to expect it, and waiting so I can duck, and every time, It attacks just that much faster than my reaction time.

We didn't ,,, ok,,, I didn't ride it this time,,, DR. Doom's Fearfall ,,, or Dr. Fearfalls Doom ride,,, but I have many times in the past.

Have yet to ride this, and we go to Universal every time we go to Orlando. However, this last time, there was a bet for Hulk, and the other rides sort of took a back seat.

And yes, it's a regular amusement park ride that they all have, and one that Tower of Terror took to a whole new level... Yes,,, no doubt,,, this matchup goes to Disney.

Good to know. ToT is one of my all time favorites, so it doesn't look like i'm missing much on Dr. Doom.

There is another great matchup that we didn't get to do this trip due to cold,,, and that is the Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges,,, whew,,, vs. Kali River Rapids,
and this result is not only a no-brainer,, it's surprising.

Nobody does scenery, and asthetics like Disney does, But without a doubt,, the Rat Barges blow them away!

Kali is WAY too short,,, and really not fun enough to warrant getting that soaked.

The Popeye ride is twice as long,,, much more interesting with falls and water cannons, drops,,, lifts,,, and then you get to go through a "boat wash" .. Popeye and Bluto are a TEN,,, Kali a FIVE! It's my favorite ride at Islands,,, and I wish it was warmer out to have been able to enjoy it. It's the kind of ride where when you have front of line access due to staying at your resort,,, you just keep doing it over and over again, since you are already soaked.

It is JUST
PLAIN
FUN!

Uni, 10, Dis. 6

I have to agree fully here. While it seems that no matter what water ride T-Man and I go on we always end up in the seats that get soaked, Kali just didn't have that thrill that Bluto's has for me. There is so much going on, and as the car circles its way around, there isn't a dry seat after the first minute or so. After that, you are no longer worried about getting wet, your just anticipating the next water blast and laughing at the people around you who are getting blasted from behind.

In this case, they really blew it;
turned out the little kid they got to come up and "help" them, couldn't speak English. it was kind of funny then to watch the cast members when they realized their error.

I tend to wonder if the people who do not speak English are planted into the audience to be picked. It always ends up when we go to these shows, they always pick the kid who doesn't understand or doesn't speak. And are way too interested in speaking directly to the dog or other animal being used than listening to the instructions. i do however get a kick out of watching the CM's.

It's like when the animals at stunt shows aren't in the mood to do the tricks they are supposed to do,,,(see Thumper's Report).

Oh look, A shout out! :goodvibes

We had barely gotten wet at all on Jurassic Park,,, and now I've kind of lost my interest in getting reall wet,,, the temps are definately dropping some.

But we had to do SOMETHING.
We rode Dudley this time and got "medium Wet".

AS we were trying to decide on the Go for it all" and do the Barge Rats,,, thats's when I saw the guy step into the Orgasmatron.

Well...after all, you did get...Nope...Not gonna go there...Family board!!!!!!!

Then we went on back to CityWalk to Pat O'Brians'.

No, no fights this time,, just a lot of fun singing along,, kidding with the piano players. And you know what? This is very much like Jellyrolls on the Boardwalk, where they also have dueling pianos.

Have yet to do either. And i kept thinking we needed to do at least one if not both this time around, since I have heard so many good things from you and Smidgy. Unfortunately it just didn't happen this time around. I will have to put it on my bucket list I guess for our next trip.

After a couple hours of this, we went on back to our room to get ready for an early exit tomorrow, not quite sure how itj's going to work out and I'll exlain in the next chapter.

But as much as I hate to leave our King Bed Suite,,,,Home is calling,
we are going back to Caribbean Beach baby!

Great Chapter Nebo! i can't wait to hear about your trip "home."

Okay, I'm convinced. I'll do one if you guys want one.... but I will not be doing a PTR. Just not my thing.

All right. All right! I said I'd do it. Geesh. But if you people don't show up, I'm gonna hold my breath until you do! :snooty:

I think Tom Hanks' worst movie was Castaway. It was neat that we got to see him physically waste away (for entertainment purposes) but they forgot that we also needed a story.

I like Groundhog Day, which is odd because there's a Star Trek TNG episode where they play the same poker game over & over (something to do with the space/time continuum, perhaps? Maybe not on this one) which I absolutely cannot stand. But I'll watch GD any time I happen upon it. On a similar note, I got sucked into The Truman Show last night, which is the one & only Jim Carrey movie I like. He was brilliant in that, and it's cool to think that this was a commentary on reality TV made back in 1998 - look what's happened since then!

Back to topic (sort of) I read the book "Jurassic Park" before it was ever a movie, and it scared the bejeebers out of me. I remember that I could not put the book down and stayed up well into the night to finish it, and was scared to walk upstairs in the dark. I kept imagining velociraptors were going to burst through the wall and eat me! Years later, I caught a bit of the movie and I was further horrified - it was like they dumbed down the story to appeal to 13 year old boys. It was a cartoony shadow of the book. So disappointing.

I'm just pacing myself don't want to overload my circuits on posts. Oh finger cramp...finger cramp

I'm sure it's already snowing there... but I wanted to make sure you guys were doing okay up there. We're supposed to get any where from 3- 8 inches here.
How much snow do you guys have up there? Take care! KEEP WARM!

I'm just pacing myself don't want to overload my circuits on posts. Oh finger cramp...finger cramp

You know,,, when I see your name up there now,, I have to check your post counts right away to see if you've been cheating on me. That's probably not a good thing, right?
I still want to know who was your first though, and why you went silent for ten years .

I'm sure it's already snowing there... but I wanted to make sure you guys were doing okay up there. We're supposed to get any where from 3- 8 inches here.

See? You too, are trying to bait me into getting in trouble, and I'm a master at that on my own! But ok,, right now,, I have about 6 inches,,WE have about six inches,, it's tapering off though,,, only a light, fine snow falling now.

I think Tom Hanks' worst movie was Castaway. It was neat that we got to see him physically waste away (for entertainment purposes) but they forgot that we also needed a story.

I agree,, that reallyis a "see it one time" movie,,, even the ending was disapointing.

I like Groundhog Day, which is odd because there's a Star Trek TNG episode where they play the same poker game over & over (something to do with the space/time continuum, perhaps? Maybe not on this one) which I absolutely cannot stand. But I'll watch GD any time I happen upon it. He was brilliant in that, and it's cool to think that this was a commentary on reality TV made back in 1998 - look what's happened since then!

I never gotinto TNG,,, I was too much an original cast fan. And now "Bones, and Scotty" have left us for good. But I think "Tiberius" will be with us forever,,, no matter how weird he looks now.

Back to topic (sort of) I read the book "Jurassic Park" before it was ever a movie, and it scared the bejeebers out of me. I remember that I could not put the book down and stayed up well into the night to finish it, and was scared to walk upstairs in the dark. Years later, I caught a bit of the movie and I was further horrified - it was like they dumbed down the story to appeal to 13 year old boys. It was a cartoony shadow of the book. So disappointing.

I always thought,,, and I think I've mentioned htis before,,,t hat the best part of the book was when Hammond, the owner said that the computer will check and count all 38 dinosaurs,, each and every night. And that they cannot reproduce since they are ALL females.

And somebody asked him if it ever looks for 39!

"no why would it?"
That brought my reading to a temporay halt,,, since they are using a frog's DNA to fill in the gaps,,,not realizing that some frogs are both male AND female,,, a great GOTCHA moment in reading.

This is the 4th time trying to get this done now. I have had a heck of a time lately with my sinuses,,, plugging up,,, sneezing,,, not normal for this time of year,,, what is going on?

Was I the only one that read that and immediately flashed back to, "If it's Tuesday, This Must be Epcot." ?

Ah yes,, going back to the original scene of the crime, and how much better our lives would be if I had been banned back then for drivel overdosing.

Nothing wakes you up like cold soggy cheese ladden chips, and jalapenos.

Yeah,, now that's some good livin'

What's sad is that i actually just sang it exactly like that in my head. :sad2:

I was going to go a bit further in the song line,, but wasn't sure of the next line,,, was it "going through the chasms of my mind,,iiiiind?"

Pool pics are classic vacation shots. Christopher Walken said "More Cowbell" I say "More Pool Pics!"

Off topic,,, but did you know that Walken was the third guy on the boat when Natalie fell over and drowned?

JP definitely still captures my attention. It's right up there with Apollo 13, in that every time I watch it I end up on the edge of my seat, as if I have never seen the movie before in my life, wondering what is going to happen next.

I don't think I/we, will ever see Jurrasic Park compared to Apollo 13 again in our lifetimes. :lmao:

Same Dino gets me every time too. And usually ends up hitting me directly in the eye because I am hunting for it, knowing to expect it, and waiting so I can duck, and every time, It attacks just that much faster than my reaction time.

yup,, that's exactly how it happens.

Good to know. ToT is one of my all time favorites, so it doesn't look like i'm missing much on Dr. Doom.

No, you really aren't, this isn't even worth a "dumb wife, dumb wife" bit.

Oh look, A shout out! :goodvibes

A shoot out? Where?

Oh, never mind.

Well...after all, you did get...Nope...Not gonna go there...Family board!!!!!!!

See how ;you are? Trying to coach me into saying something that will get me in trouble.

Great Chapter Nebo! i can't wait to hear about your trip "home."

Thanks for taking the time to respond Lady H,,hope your allergies improve.

Pkondz- I'd follow!

Now I'm singing a U2 song, S-W-E-E-T!

I just looked at my calendar. It was Labour Day in Australia! Now, why Mony would want to celebrate that I have no idea... :confused3

Marie,, let's face it,, people that drink look for anything to give them a reason for "just one more".
I once celebrated National Komodo Lizard Day in the Galopogas Islands,,,oh,,did I just say that out loud?

What are you doing up at 3am? Is that possible for you?

On a similar note, I got sucked into The Truman Show last night, which is the one & only Jim Carrey movie I like

Have you seen The Majestic? I liked him in that one too, except the ending was totally unbelievable and overwraught.

Off topic,,, but did you know that Walken was the third guy on the boat when Natalie fell over and drowned?

Yup... but I only found out recently when they reopened the case.

ps. what is "overious"? :rotfl2:
