We fly into Orlando late the night before our Disney cruise and are considering the airport Hyatt. We can get a much cheaper rate at other airport hotels but I don't want to have to take hotel shuttles at 11pm. Also, I would like to meet the Disney bus as early as possible...does anyone know what time the transfers depart Orlando airport?

Thanks!!!

Worried mom from NC:rolleyes:

We stayed at the Hyatt as part of the DCL air package. We met the cruise line representatives in the lobby of the Hyatt at 9:30 AM on the morning of the cruise to check in for the buses. The first bus left at about 10:00 AM. Note that while we were told to meet at 9:30, many people had already checked in before us. We got there at about 9:35 and were placed on the second bus (left at about 10:15 or so) because the first one was already full.

If you do end up staying at the Hyatt, let them know you're a Disney Cruise Line passenger when you check in. They'll give you an instruction sheet about meeting the bus and placing your luggage in the hallway on the morning of the cruise for collection and transfer to the port.

The Hyatt was very convenient, as its attached to the main terminal. And as I said, you can leave your luggage in the hotel hallway on the morning of the cruise, with the cruise line tags on them, and they'll be delivered to your stateroom on board. If you end up staying there, avoid the buffet breakfast they offer in the top floor restaurant. We found it over-priced and not really that great. I'd suggest grabbing some fast food or a bagel in the terminal before meeting the bus.

Thank you so much for that information. I'm a single mom traveling with a child so that really puts my mind at ease!

I'm a single mom too and before our cruise last Octobe we stayed at the Hyatt. The higher cost of the Hyatt is well worth it versus the option of hauling two tired kids and six suitcases to a shuttle for another hotel.

We stayed with our kids, ages 10 and 8, the night before. The hotel is actually quite beautiful and connected to the airport - easy to get food at the food court or sit down restaurant in the airport. We too checked out the buffet and opted for the airport breakfast foods.

On another note, we used our two-way radios in the hotel and airport - quite handy!

Thanks for your input. I feel better about paying the higher price knowing I'm making the right choice.

Try Expedia, Hotwire or even Priceline. Posters have stated that they were able to get some pretty decent rates like $59-$69 per night!

We had booked our own air and purchased DCL transfers. Our flight got in on Friday night at 10:00. We got the Hyatt for $114. When we checked in, we asked if they would please put our names on the DCL list for luggage pickup the next morning. We put our bags out in the AM and they were picked up no problem. Next time we had to deal with our luggage was in our cabin on the Magic. We checked in in the Hyatt lobby at a little before 9AM Sat. morning, gave them our transfer vouchers and were assigned to a bus. The bus picked us up right at the entrance to the Hyatt. It was great.

Linda, I can't thank you enough for that information! Having the luxury of baggage pick-up and meeting the Disney bus outside the Hyatt is definitely worth the price of their hotel rooms.

Will they still transfer your bags to the ship if you are NOT taking the shuttle bus? We are taking a car service and would love not to have to schlep those bags.

Is there a swimming pool at the Hyatt and how does it compare to the Radisson (if anyone has stayed at both)

DrMikey2,

No, they will only take your bags as part of the transfers you purchase through DCL. The cost of the transfer includes luggage handling. If you take an independent car service, you'll have to take your own bags, though the driver will likely help you with loading and unloading.

There is a pool at the hyatt but it is outside. When we were there in march last year we had trouble with little bitting bugs so we only stayed at the pool for about an hour... We loved our stay at the hyatt & will do it again for our next disney cruise. It made everything real easy to stay there before our cruise...:smooth: :smooth: :smooth: :smooth:

Just returned from the 1/26 cruise and we stayed at the Hyatt on 1/25.

Here are a few pointers...

- The pool is great. It was outside, but nice and very warm. We were able to stay outside and swim for a long time in the evening. Steam was rising from the pool.

- The letter Disney gives you when you arrive at the Hyatt says that if you are on a cruise, leave your baggage and it will be taken to the port for you. It doesn't say that you have to have a transfer package. So, although we were renting a car, we left our baggage. We went downstairs departing morning and spoke with the Disney rep. and he told us it wasn't supposed to be part of the package, but they would go ahead and take care of it. Disney needs to change the letter they leave with guests to state that only those with 'transfers' should leave their luggage out. They gave us no problem and took care of luggage.

- The Hyatt breakfast buffet was terrible. We had the 'business plan' rate, which was $149 and included breakfast for two adults at the buffet (or a 25% off at another restaurant). Wish we would have chosen a different restaurant. The service was slow and the food was terrible and not much selection. Not what you would expect from the Hyatt.

- It was great being right there at the airport.

Good luck

Just a note for people staying at airport hotels other than the Hyatt who are worried about taking a shuttle:
We got the Amerisuite very cheap thru Hotwire and weren't sure what to expect. But there are free phones direct to the hotels right in the baggage area. We had arrived in the evening, but I felt very secure waiting out in the pickup area. I don't know about the other hotels, but the Amerisuites also offers the free shuttle to other nearby destinations such as restaurants or shopping. The driver mentioned that, but we didn't take advantage of it because there was a TGI Friday's within walking distance. We had Happy Limo pick us up the next morning and got to the cruise terminal VERY early...it was great! Although there was a sign saying that the windows don't open for check-in till 11, one was open when we arrived around 10:30 and the port was practically deserted.
We are staying at two other airport hotels (Renaissance, which we got cheap thru Priceline, and Fairfield, which we got free with Mariott Reward Points) in March and April.
