I was at Magic Kingdom today and they are disassembling the original Dumbo. It is definitely closed for good at that location. I thought I heard one of the new dueling dumbos would be up and running before they close the old Dumbo but that is not going to happen. I have some photos I will upload when I get a chance.

Sorry but...the sooner they get the 2 dumbos going the better. That ride was a black hole of time for parents. :sad2:

You mean closed for ever and ever? Or remodeling?

The existing Dumbo is closed permenantly at that location and will eventually be moved to the new Storybook Circus part of the Fantastland expansion to join the new Dumbo spinner. The new Dumbo is currently scheduled to open on March 12th.

Not that I didn't know it was coming, but feeling a bit nostalgic. My mind will forever have Dumbo in that location next to the carousel.

I know the update will be good and cut down on the wait time, though.

I still think that if people really want to wait 40-60 minutes for a carnival spinner, let 'em.

Oddly enough, in my three trips to WDW, I never did Dumbo -- the lines were always too long for my taste. But the kids do seem to love the similar rides (Aladdin's Carpets, Triceratops Spin), so it'll be nice to do Dumbo when we get down there again (hoping for this December).

I think the real reason that Dumbo is being dismantled now is Obams's visit. You know he doesn't want to take a chance that he might be photographed any where near an elephant.

Bazinga. ;)

You know how when you move a sofa you find all sorts of things under there. Can you imagine the things that have fallen or rolled under the Dumbo ride and have been there for 40 years. Old coins, jewelry, gold teeth, shoes.....I bet they found a ton of nostalgic stuff under there.

I heard they found Michael Eisner under there.

I think the magic of Dumbo is its location next to the castle and the carousel. I hope that the new "Dumbo's" will be magical in its new location.
